A few weeks ago Ryan and I went down to Miami for a little fun in the sun. While I wasn’t able to get this post up right away, I wanted to take today to talk about a few highlights from the trip (mini itinerary below). Honestly, we were kind of over the seriously un-Fall-ish temperatures in Orlando so we figured if we couldn’t win the weather battle that we might as well go somewhere extra sunny. So Miami it was. It’s only a 3 hour drive, but the change in scenery is dramatic! The last few times we’ve been to Miami (see here & here) it either rained the entire time or it was so hot we could barely breathe. This time, the weather was absolute perfection. And I was even able to wear a cardigan first thing in the morning… which, for us Floridians, is a real thrill!
During this trip we were able to squeeze in so many fun things that we’ve yet to be able to experience like the Pérez Art Museum, afternoon tea at the St. Regis, and really getting to know the Wynwood neighborhood. On our previous Miami visit we briefly stopped by Wynwood Walls, but it started pouring and we weren’t able to explore much. This time we were bound and determined to enjoy it.
On our last day in Miami we woke up SUPER early and drove down to Wynwood to take it all in before the crowds show up. We hopped into Panther coffee, grabbed our lattes, and headed out on a little Wynwood adventure. We had such a great time seeing all the walls, taking photos, and enjoying the beautiful weather. If you are interested in getting photos of the walls, I’d HIGHLY suggest getting down there first thing in the morning. We were there at 6:45 am on the dot and we had the walls all to ourselves. Honestly, it’s such a fun thing to do, plus there are so many great coffee and donut shops around… so you definitely won’t go hungry that early in the morning!
When we book our travel I immediately start thinking about what to pack. I love going to places like Miami because really, just about anything goes. So when I saw this jumpsuit (which is now 50% off!) I thought, this has “Miami” written alllll over it! I paired it with this fuzzy cardigan (also, 50% off today… insert side eye for purchasing it for full price), big hoop earrings, and my favorite bright lipstick. I loved the way the look came together. It was all very seventies with a little J.Lo, and I’m not going to lie, I liked it. I think this may be my favorite look from the entire trip.
And I can’t wrap up with post without telling you about the pretty floral dress I also bought (see here!) for this trip that is also now FIFTY PERCENT OFF! What was I even thinking buying something before Cyber Monday… it’s like the entire retail world went for wholesale pricing today, NUTS! Anyways, if you are doing a little retail therapy, I’d highly recommend throwing this one in your shopping cart as well, it’s a winner!
I’ve pieced together a mini, Miami-in-2-days itinerary which is almost exactly what we did. In the next few days I’ll post more about that Tea at the St. Regis. Let me know if you’ve been/will be going to any of these places or have any recommendations of your own. I’m always interested in learning about new spots!
Miami in a weekend:
Day 1 – South Beach
- Breakfast: Grab an Açaí Bowl somewhere (favorite spot is Under the Mango Tree)
- Activity: Walk South Beach (notable Beach scenes can be found at SLS, The Edition, The Delano, or The Raleigh).
- Lunch: Lilikoi Organic Living (the best and healthiest food I’ve ever had)
- Activity: Tea at the St. Regis Bal Harbour
- Dinner: If you’re still interested in dinner (we weren’t after Tea), try Mandolin Aegean Bistro, Sugarcane Raw Bar & Grill, or La Sandwicherie (heard multiple locals and uber drivers rave about this place).
Day 2 – Explore Wynwood Walls
- Activity: Wynwood Walls – arrive early to have the walls all to yourself.
- Breakfast: Then grab breakfast/coffee at Dr. Smood / Panther Coffee or donuts at The Salty Donut.
- Activity: Up to you! Try another museum, or lounge by the pool at your hotel.
- Dinner: Coyo Taco (Wynwood)
