The Best Summer Sweaters

Ellsworth & Ivey Sweater on sale! (under $40 version here)

Hot Outside, Cold Inside.

I know this post seems like an oxymoron with having both “Summer” and “Sweater” in the title, but let’s be real, we are all wearing Summer sweaters, even us Florida people. Here in the South I practically always have to have a sweater in my tote, because it may be 1 zillion degrees outside, but inside it’s definitely a crisp and breezy 67.

Blasting the A/C at 100% is practically the only way we can survive the Summer heat here… so you better believe there’s a sweater in my tote!

Perfectly Lightweight Sweaters:

I have this one (see here) and I love it! It’s the best tote cardigan. And this one, I’ve worn the heck out of (see here and it’s on sale)! May just be my favorite sweater in my closet! Oh, and this one, I have in the colors: white and cobblestone… they’re the best basics (see here)!

Although, I must say… when I was on Nantucket earlier this Summer I seriously L-I-V-E-D for the actual Summer sweater weather! It was cool enough at night to pop on a sweater and, when it rained, it was extra cozy. It felt like heaven! There’s nothing better than a cool Summer night.

Graphic Sweaters & Sweatshirts

I’m not typically a “graphic tee” kinda gal, but during the Summer months I kind of love the classic look of a graphic sweatshirt! I have this one and I love it… It’s perfect to just throw on over a t-shirt or dress (I sized up). And this one, looks so cozy and would be so cute for a night at the beach!

P.S. What me your sweater friendly vacation spots?

Ryan and I have started talks on planning a vacation for our 5 year anniversary (and to celebrate being cancer-free! PTL!) in September. Our one and only requirement is that we can wear a sweater at night! ha! #priorities. So, send us suggestions if you have them. California, Colorado, Main… tell us your favorite Summer-sweater-weather-location!

Bar Harbor ,ME! Go to Acadia National Park, eat a lobster lunch. Main Street in Bar Harbor has lots of cute shops and art galleries. You can get lobster ice cream. Make sure to eat anything blueberry.

I live in sunny (read inferno) Southern California. I suggest Monterey, California. I also LIVE for sweater weather and I think you’d really enjoy the quaintness of Monterey. Great seafood, the Aquarium is there (one of the best in the world!), hubby and I took a guided kayak tour of the bay and floated LITERALLY two feet over resting sea lions who watched us with those big puppy eyes! They take you to the sea wall and tell you about the sea life attached to it, really amazing! It’s an old and historic town so there’s loads of interesting things to see, Cannery Row is one. It’s just magical. Late night and early morning low clouds and fog help it to feel extra special as well. Nearby Carmel, Clint Eastwood’s former home, is such a beautiful area and there’s a beautiful drive called I think, 21 Mile Drive that is not to be missed. So I hope you consider it. I know you’d love it. All the best. Btw, married 32 years now. Went there for our first anniversary and again a couple of years ago and did the kayaking. Congratulations!

Ohhhh needed to add, you actually hear the foghorns and bells ringing at night in the bay for the boats! It’s like something out of a novel.

Roxi! Thank you so much for recommendations, so helpful! And actually Carmel is on the tippity top of our list! xx

Bemus Point, NY on Chautauqua is gorgeous and in Sept will cool down in the evenings. Such a charming lake town.

I love the idea of summer sweaters in theory but I am so hot natured and living in Florida it is just way to hot for me to wear anything but a tank top, ha (: I do love that cute Nantucket sweater though!

I always have a sweater with me in the summer, too!! The air conditioning can feel far too cold for me, ahah! For a summer sweater weather destination, the North Shore of Lake Superior in Minnesota is gorgeous, and you will need a sweater at night!!

Cheers to summer sweater lovers 🙂
