Switching it Up with a Scarf
A few months ago Ryan and I popped down to Palm Beach for a few nights. While we were in town we stopped by all of our favorite places, including brunch at The Colony Hotel. Before for we set out I was rummaging through my suitcase when I realized the outfit I planned for this day was missing the bottoms (whoops!), so I had to improvise! I decided to just throw on an all neutral look and be done with it. But when I put on the top and skirt, it honestly just felt like something was missing… thats when I spotted the scarf!
Truth be told, I threw this scarf (currently on sale) into my suitcase right as I was walking out the door thinking it looked Palm Beach-y and that I’d wear it over my bathing suit as a sarong.
So when my original brunch outfit for The Colony didn’t work out I had the random thought that maybe I could tie the scarf around my waist like a belt, a-la Aladdin style!
I came out of the room with it tied around my waist and asked Ryan what he thought. He said, “for some reason it works.” So I went with it! And honestly I really loved wearing it this way! Such a fun new way to wear a scarf and add a pop of color to an other-wise neutral look. Not to mention how well it matched with the gorgeous upholstered chairs at The Colony.
Plus, I can’t tell you how many complements I received on it… lots of “how cute” and “I would never have thought to do that!” Which I returned with “I blame it on all the Aladdin trailers I’ve been watching lately”. 😉
So do a little digging in your closet and see what you can come up with! I’d bet you will be surprised at the scarf/skirt options you’re able to pull together. Because honestly, if Aladdin isn’t our style icon here, who is?
