ROAD TRIP SERIES PT. 2: PALM BEACH
Mother Daughter Trip!
Every year around this time, my mom, sister, and I plan a little weekend getaway! With busy schedules throughout the year, we like to try to take at least one weekend a year and go somewhere fun and fabulous together to reconnect and do ALL the girly things! Last year we went to Charleston (see more of that trip here!), and this year we decided to head to Palm Beach.
I had gone to Palm Beach last year to spend the weekend with my girlfriends Beth and Danielle (more of that trip here) and just knew my mom and sister would LOOOOVE it! My mom has been to Palm Beach before many years ago, but my sister hadn’t. Since it’s just about 2.5 hours away, it seemed like the perfect location!
After doing a little research and pulling ideas from my last trip to PB, we landed on staying at The Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa and planned our entire trip around that. I have stayed at both The Colony Hotel (see here) and The Brazilian Court (see here) and wanted to stay somewhere new! After seeing photos of The Eau Palm Beach, I knew we just had to stay there. I mean honestly, it’s adorable and PERFECT for a girls only weekend.
The rooms at The Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa were designed by Johnathan Adler. They were bright, happy, and SO Palm Beach! As soon as we checked in, we all had our cameras out within 30 seconds, and I knew instantly I made the right choice!
After spending a good hour of twirling around in our room and talking about how fancy we were, we had a knock at the door! We opened it to see a bottle of chilled champagne and a note from our husbands (and dad!) telling us to enjoy the trip! As if we weren’t already on cloud nine, that officially sealed the deal.
The sweet thing about that little surprise was the three of them, dad, Ryan, and my Brother-in-law were all having a guys night of there own and made a group call to the hotel to surprise us. Clearly they are winning ALL of the points!
After spending the afternoon exploring the hotel, we got all gussied up and headed out for dinner and drinks. We even wore matching sparkly clutches (this one), because we are ridiculous like that!
We landed on Buccan’s Imoto Sushi for dinner and loved every second of it. If you go, you MUST get the edamame… yum! We sat at the sushi bar, and it was such fun. I think getting reservations there may be difficult, but if you are willing to sit anywhere you can usually get in!
(side note: A lot of my “research” on Palm Beach was directed on food. We love food, but my sister has quite a few allergies which can make finding restaurants that are accommodating extremely frustrating. If you too have allergies, I’d HIGHLY recommend spending 30 minutes or so before any trip just calling restaurant after restaurant to check and see if they can accommodate your needs. This was a life saver because nothing is more frustrating than sitting down at a restaurant only to find out they aren’t helpful! So all of the restaurants I’ll mention here are Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Soy Free, and Nut Free friendly. All things that are very important for my sister.)
After dinner we headed to The HMF Bar at The Breakers for drinks. If you haven’t been to the HMF bar, it’s a Palm Beach MUST! The atmosphere is so PB, and you’ll love every second of it. Also, they have one of the best Old Fashioned drinks I’ve ever had.
The next morning, we ordered room service, and there just isn’t anything as fun as wearing matching pjs and eating breakfast in bed. There just isn’t.
Once we finished breakfast, we headed out for a little shopping! I took them to all of my favorite places on Worth Avenue, and of course a few vintage retail shops like The Church Mouse! The shopping (or you know, window shopping) is so much fun in Palm Beach where everything is bigger, brighter, and gilded.
For lunch, we headed back to the hotel for tacos at The Breeze! We had fish tacos and cocktails while we watched the waves roll in. If you are looking for THE PERFECT lunch spot in Palm Beach, THIS. IS. IT. Oh my goodness. The breeze off the ocean kept us cool, the décor was so fun (thanks, Johnathan Adler!), and the food was delicious. I couldn’t recommend it enough! It’s a must go.
After lunch, we changed into our swimsuits and took our party down to a cabana where we listened to the ocean, sipped champagne, read magazines, and had girl talk. It may have been my favorite part of the entire trip.
For dinner, we decided to head to West Palm Beach to try out Christopher’s Kitchen, and I’m so glad we did. Christopher’s Kitchen is a plant-based restaurant with a juice bar connected. They were SO helpful and accommodating, and we all left extremely FULL! I ordered the veggie burger, and it was SO. GOOD. You definitely have to go. I’d love to go back and try out the juice bar next time we are in town.
On Sunday, we dilly-dallied around the hotel (because we loved it so much) before it was time to pack up and head back home. We would have been A LOT more sad about leaving except for the fact it was Father’s Day, and we couldn’t wait to get back home to dad! We also had a pretty epic BBQ planned, so it was time to get on the road.
But before we left town, we swung by the Island Bee for lunch. The Island Bee is magical and plant based just like Christopher’s Kitchen! We had acai bowls, avocado toast, cold brew, and it was DELICIOUS. You need to go if you are in the area! You’ll love it, I promise!
Needless to say, our road trip to Palm Beach was magical and so much fun. There’s no one I’d rather spend a girl’s getaway with than these two!
