When I think about my summer essentials, I’d include a linen button down, without a doubt! I own my fair share of button downs, since they’re a classic piece that will truly never go out of style. There is a lot to say about the simplicity and versatility of a white linen shirt, but when I saw this pink linen button down a couple of months ago, I knew I had to order it immediately! It’s fun, feminine, and a piece you’ll have on rotation all summer long.
Pink Linen Button Down Three Ways
There are so many wonderful linen button downs out right now! My favorite two I’d recommend are the Vineyard Vines Linen Weekend Button Down I’m wearing in the photo above, and the J.Crew Slim-fit Baird McNutt Irish linen shirt. Both are equally great, but the main difference is the Vineyard Vines button down is a slightly darker pink and a bit more relaxed.
At the Beach
My favorite way to wear a linen button down may just be as a cover up! Since linen is a must for hot weather, this is my ideal option for days at the beach or even just laying out in our backyard, ha! It looks so effortless paired with a swimsuit and an oversized sunhat on vacation, plus it’s especially great if you’re looking to save space in your suitcase.
For a casual summer day, you can’t go wrong with denim shorts and a pink linen button down tucked in! If I had a busy day out and about, I’d opt for sneakers, but you could definitely swap them for a pair of sandals too. Finally, add a fun headband, like this knotted yellow and pink one, and a big tote to carry all the essentials.
Lastly, for a weekend brunch (or dinner), a pink linen button down is an easy way to elevate a simple white midi dress. Wear it with your dress as you would a cardigan. Then, leave it unbuttoned and tie it in a front knot at your waist by holding the bottom corners, gathering the fabric towards the front, tying in a knot, and tucking in the excess fabric around the back. Style this outfit with statement earrings (I love these white peony earrings) and also a pair of heeled sandals.
