The Classic Knife Pleat
Two things I love: One, a midi length skirt or dress, and two, a knife pleat.
There is just something so magical and classic about them. To be fair, I’ve been majorly binge-watching Marvelous Mrs. Maisel so that may or may not have something to do with my obsession with this look.
The styles of the late 50’s and 60’s have always been my favorite. That, coupled with old Hollywood glam, pretty much sums up what I always have dancing around in my head as “fashion goals”. I love the feminine lines of that era and how the clothes were made for dancing — and there is nothing more “twirl-able” than pleats!
Midi Dress with Knife Pleats
I scooped up these two dresses back in October when Blair Eadie from Atlantic-Pacific launched her line with Halogen at Nordstrom. To be completely honest, I though I had only ordered the pink one, but when the boxes came in and I looked at the receipt it was clear that I had ordered BOTH of them… and I wasn’t mad at it one bit. Whoops!
I had been debating between the pink and the green, thinking of all the ways and places I could wear them. And, as you can see, I love them equally. So apparently my subconscious knew what it was doing. 🙂
Here’s what I love about them:
The dresses are true to size, fit like they were tailored, and twirl to perfection. They are lined, meaning no slip necessary, and the fabric flows like an old Hollywood dream! I can not recommend “them” enough.
Also, I’ve recently been playing around with layering, mostly due to the crazy hot and cold weather here in Florida, and I’ve been loving the look. Try popping a sweater and a belt over a midi dress if you are searching for a different look. It’s a great way to get lots of wear out of a dress. Plus, if you are like me, when I find something I like I wear the heck out of it! And this is one dress I seriously like!
Thanks as always for reading and let me know if you’ve tried this collection or other styles/brands I should consider!
