A French Braid With A Twist!

Last week on I posted a photo on Instagram & Snapchat of my braided ponytail. So many of you asked if I would do a tutorial, so, my wish is your command! Below is a little step-by-step on how to do this super easy ponytail, and at the bottom I attached the short Snapchat video I filmed last week.  That way you can also see it in motion! I hope you enjoy this and that it’s helpful. Please let me know if you try it out, I’d love to hear your thoughts!

STEP 1:

Start off by brushing through your hair.  I like to add a bit of wave to my hair with a curling iron, since my hair is so fine. That way it holds better. Next, spray your hair with dry shampoo. The dry shampoo helps the braid keep it’s look! Also, I feel like it’s much easier to braid my hair when it has some texture, and dry shampoo does the trick!

STEP 2:

Grab a section of hair at the crown of your head. Make sure it is parallel to your part and ear!

STEP 3:

Separate that section of hair into three pieces.

STEP 4:

Drop the middle piece.

 STEP 5:

Take that dropped middle piece and grab hair from the front of your hairline.

STEP 6:

Then braid it in like a normal French braid.

STEP 7:

The thing to remember is to only take hair from the front of your hairline (around your face).

STEP 8:

Just keep braiding, only grabbing hair from the front!

STEP 9.

Stop braiding once you hit an inch or two behind your ear.

STEP 10:

Take a bobbie pin and secure the braid. This is to keep the braid from sliding while you are putting your hair in a pony tail.

STEP 11:

Now, use a clear rubber band and gather your hair into a pony tail!

STEP 12:

Once your hair is in the pony tail, take out the bobbie pin.

STEP 13:

Now, take the braid and pull at parts of it, giving it more of an undone look. I like to also pull out some hairs from the braid to frame my face as well.

STEP 14:

Use ALL the hairspray!

Love this! I used to have fairly long hair, but recently cut it, and have been trying to find some doable styles that work with my now mid-length hair. I tried this, and it was super easy. Thanks for sharing!
