The Most Magical Night
Sponsored by L’Oreal Paris
A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to attend L’Oreal’s Women of Worth event in New York City, and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since. Before attending the event, we spent the afternoon in a fancy penthouse suite that was overflowing with champagne and girl talk. Post girls day, the night was so surreal, and it ended up being one of the most special evenings as I sat in a room full of incredibly accomplished women while we celebrated a select 10 who have made service their life’s work. We did all the girly things that night: we drank champagne together, laughed together, and most of all cried off of L’Oreal mascara together. It was a night I’ll never forget.
Here’s a little rundown of how the night went, along with all of the fancy (of course!) details….
It started off with hair and make-up in the Lowe’s Penthouse suite. Now, let me just start off by saying THIS WILL NEVER EVER GET OLD. Also, nothing more in life makes me want to be a Kardashian than when I get my hair and make-up done… why-oh-why is it so magical?
I sat down with champagne in hand as I got buffed, curled, and pinned into place while over looking the NYC skyline. To be honest with you, as I was sitting there, I was getting more and more nervous… I never know what to expect at these events, or if I will fit in (why is this still a thing at 29?!). The sweet ladies who did my hair and make-up kept reassuring me that it would be fine, and they had everything under control!
After hair and make-up was finished, I slipped into my dress. Then it was time for finishing touches! When I first found out about this event, I started searching for the perfect thing to wear. I’ve been to black tie events before, but never one quite like this…so I opted for a classic silhouette and color. When in doubt, always choose a black dress, and that is just what I did. And believe it or not, this dress was a Rent the Runway dress, so feel free to use it for your next black tie affair!
After I was all officially “put together”, we stepped out on the terrace to take a few photos! I have to be honest with you here… this was definitely a Cinderella moment, all dolled up in NYC waiting to walk the red carpet. If that doesn’t give you all the magical feels, than I don’t think anything will!
Once we got word that the car arrived, all of us girls made our way downstairs and into our car. It was so fun being all together and on our way to a “ball”. All of the girls looked so pretty each with their own gorgeous style… together we felt unstoppable!
As soon as we stepped foot inside the Pierre Hotel, we knew this was going to be a special night… but then we spotted a full length mirror so…
After we finished our 1,000th selfie for the day, it was officially time to walk the red carpet. Walking the red carpet will never be something I get used to, although I have to admit it is a little fun… after you get over all the nerves!
Here is a little peek at what it really looks like…
After we walked the red (or black in this case!) carpet, we headed to cocktail hour where we pretty much (or at least I did!) stood in awe of what was happening. It was like be in the middle of a dream. The event was beautiful! Plus, the people were not only GORGEOUS they were also incredibly kind. As we sipped cocktails, it all started to set in what the night was really about.
Once we got into the dinner, I for the most part kept my phone away, so I could really take in the event. To be honest, I was to riveted by these women. All fanciness aside, these 10 women were what the night was about. I would have been happy to have been in sweatpants makeup-less and eating popcorn as we listened to the women’s stories! Each of them glowed as they stood on stage and talked about their life’s work. If you get a chance, hop over to L’Oreal and read their stories. You will not be uninspired, I promise!
I speak for all of the L’Oreal League girls when I say we all left this event changed, inspired, and amazed!
I am counting down the days until my next L’Oreal event, because I’ve got to be honest with you, they just keep getting better and better. And, us L’Oreal League girls just keep getting closer and closer! It’s funny even our husbands are becoming friends as well. We are now all one be happy glamorous family, and I love it!
