The Happiest Weekend
Oh my gosh, what a crazy weekend! On Friday night, as soon as our flooring install team left (see more here) I sanitized the entire house and threw together a little surprise birthday party dinner for Ryan. The crew left at 5:00 pm and our dinner guests (two of our best friends!) arrived at 6:30 for dinner! Ryan was so surprised, and it was such a sweet night. I threw together a quick cheese board, tossed a few potatoes in the oven (thank goodness the crew plugged it back in!), pulled out steaks for the grill, and somehow managed to whip together a kale salad. Without a full kitchen, I felt like I was throwing a dinner party with my hands tied behind my back, but y’all it ended up being the SWEETEST night.
When the door bell rang at 6:30pm and Brad and Casey were standing on the front stoop, Ryan flipped. He hadn’t seen Brad since March, and it was so fun to see the boys back together! All the scrambling was totally worth it and I am so grateful we got to celebrate my best guy.
We spent the rest of the weekend, in true DIY form, working on projects. I started on the foyer wall paper removal and Ryan worked on electrical, duct work (for the range hood vent), and drywall. Needless to say we made MULTIPLE Home Depot trips!
I can’t wait till we complete this giant project… I’m going to invite you ALL over for dinner.
