Mexico, A Dream Vacation

Welcome to the Fairmont Mayakoba!

I can’t believe it has already been two weeks since our trip to Mexico, because it still feels like an actual dream. I’d been to Cabo briefly during a cruise, but never had the opportunity to actually experience the beauty of Mexico until this trip. And if I can say one thing would summarize our trip to the Fairmont Mayakoba it would be: GO.

The beauty, the people, the food, the hospitality were unlike anything we’ve ever experienced. And when we boarded our flight home after four days in paradise we were already missing and plotting a trip back to this beautiful place.

Where exactly?

A short two hour flight from Orlando and a 45 minute drive, the Fairmont Mayakoba is nestled right on the coast of the Quintana Roo peninsula. Pink sandy beaches mixed with a jungle terrain (with REAL monkeys!) made for the most perfect morning sunrises and magical sunsets. That was easily one of our favorite parts about this trip. There’s nothing quite as magical as a Mexican sunrise.

Ryan and I were so honored to be included on this trip with a handful of other bloggers and influencers who where brought in to experience everything the Fairmont Mayakoba has to offer. From the incredible meals to excursions, like chartering the 55′ VanDutch Hermes yacht, and last but certainly not least the spa treatments! Every meal and every experience had the stamp of a luxury AAA-5 Diamond hotel, and no detail was left unattended.

We ate almost every meal together as a group of 18 and by the end of the trip we felt like family! We giggled after one too many margaritas, ate our weight in guacamole (and surprisingly octopus), and swapped stories until we couldn’t keep our eyes open any longer. I kept saying that it this trip felt like Summer Camp in all of the best ways possible.

My favorite “selfie” photo of the trip

This past week as I was going through all of our photos, and guys we took THOUSANDS, I kept coming back to this selfie Ryan and I took on our first day. I think I’m going to frame it. Somehow we always end up matching. ha.

The property…

One of the uniquely beautiful things we fell in love with during our stay was the way the resort was laid out. Spread over 240 acres of pristine beaches and jungle, we never felt like we were “cooped-up” in a resort. Truthfully we never really left the resort gates, but it felt like we were able to experience so much!

Golf carts would pick you up and drop you off at all of the different pools, beaches, restaurants, and casitas, which was so nice and also a great way to see the property! Plus, who doesn’t love a golf cart ride through the jungle?! ha!

We also spent a LOVELY afternoon cruising through the Mayakoba canals on the hotel’s adorable river boat stocked with fresh coconut water. It was one of the more beautiful things we ended up getting to experience! It felt like we had jumped right out of a movie scene… Seriously stunning.

Off to the spa…

The resort also has an AMAZING spa and gym. Ryan and I would get up early and head to the gym for a run… but were so excited that our trip had a spa treatment included for the both of us. We selected the deep tissue massage and, y’all, it did not disappoint.

If I could live anywhere, I’d want to live at the Fairmont Mayakoba Spa. I’m positive heaven will be just like it.

Delicious Food + Allergy Friendly!

Also, I wanted to point out that I was surprisingly able to eat every single meal during this trip. And truthfully, that NEVER happens. I have a fairly serious dairy allergy and traveling in general can be difficult. I always end up brining an extra bag filled with snacks because I never know what will be available. But during this trip I was not only able to eat, but the servers and chefs at all three restaurants were unbelievably kind and knowledgeable and always made me feel safe with each meal.

I never felt silly or like nuisance, and honestly that alone made Ryan and I want to come back! I know this may seem like a little thing, but I can’t say what a huge impact it made on us. To not only be in a different country but also to feel so cared for by people who didn’t know us was a testament to the Fairmont’s service. And that makes me what to book another trip!

The Yacht…

On our last day we took out the property’s yacht for a little fun in the sun, and guys, it was unreal. I kept saying I felt like I was in a Jay Z video popping bottles of champagne, cruising through crystal blue water, and lounging on a boat that was outfitted in Hermés leather.

I mean seriously. It was ridiculously over the top and down-right fabulous.

This was definitely the highlight of our trip. All of us girls couldn’t get over the luxury of it all and took more photos on this boat than what was probably appropriate! Ha! But honestly, what were we supposed to do on an Hermés yacht?! We really leaned into the fancy! 😉

And we ended our trip with a proper farewell fiesta! There was a chocolate piñata, tequila tasting, tacos, churros, dancing ….and of course a mariachi band send off!

Spending the better half of a week at the Fairmont Mayakoba with 18 new friends was such a treat. I’ll be forever thankful for the friendships and memories that were made and look forward to another trip to the Fairmont soon!

Love Fairmont Mayakoba. Been three times! Took my six year old for spring break earlier this year and the kids club and that slide are fun!

So fun to hear about your trip and it makes me so happy to hear you didn’t have to worry about allergies! I have various food allergies myself and it’s such a source of anxiety, especially when traveling.

If you don’t mind sharing (and totally understand if you’re not comfortable discussing!), I would love a post about how to deal with dietary restrictions in business /social settings, while traveling, etc.

Ann! I will totally add that to my list of things to blog about! Love that idea! But honestly, I mostly just bring SO MANY SNACKS! ha! xx
