Last week while in Charleston we stopped by my good friend Stacy’s boutique clothing store on King Street, Hampden Clothing, for a little retail therapy. Stacy and I spoke together at The Southern C back in February and hit it off from the moment we met. Stacy’s energy is contagious and her taste is amazing, so I was dying to experience her store in real life! So when we booked a trip to Charleston a few weeks ago, Stacy was the first person I e-mailed, “I’m coming to town!!!”.
Just like I imagined, her store is incredibly beautiful. Everything in there has been thoughtfully curated and each piece is special. There’s honestly something for every occasion, from sequin dresses and pearl-studded stilettos to metallic tennis shoes and ripped denim. If you haven’t been, put Hampden Clothing on your Charleston bucket list right now.
And now here’s all the details on this dress I’m wearing…
Retro Cherry Dress
After doing a little browsing, one of the stylists suggested this pretty retro cherry dress by HVN and I was instantly intrigued. She said “this looks like you” and I had to agree! She knew me for all of 5 minutes and nailed my style. With a dressing room filled with looks to try I knew as soon as I slipped it on that it was the one. I have never in my life felt more like myself in an outfit than when I put on this dress. I realize that is a very aggressive statement, but you know that feeling where a dress just “fits” perfectly and you feel like a million bucks. Well… this is was that moment for me. As soon as I put it on I knew I couldn’t walk out without it!
What I love about the dress is that silhouette is modern and the pattern is adorably playful and retro. In my opinion, it’s the perfect dress. And after I had found THE dress, we popped over to Hampden’s Shoe & Bag side to accessorize. That’s when I spotted these pearl studded flats. Talk about dream shoe!! I felt like Cinderella as soon as I slipped them on, once again a match made in heaven!
I’d love to know, how do you feel about long hem, retro looks like this?
We don’t normally get the opportunity to shop during our travels, mostly because I’ve over packed and can’t possibly put one more thing into my already “heavy” bag but on our last few trips I’ve tried to leave a little extra space for something special and it’s been fun to find a fun piece and then be able to photograph it while we are out and about. Like this sweatshirt and hat in Newport or this pink coat and fur cuffed sweater in NYC, so picking up this retro look was the icing on my Charleston cake!
And the fun doesn’t stop quite yet, because Stacy asked if I would be a Guest Editor today for their newsletter and online shop. Of course, I said yes! So you’ll have to head over to hampdenclothing.com today to see my top 12 picks, I think you will love them! And I have to tell you, my personal favorite (besides this cherry dress, duh) is this floral one. It’s even prettier in person and I wish I would have scooped it up too!
Happy Friday everyone!
