Clean Up The Mess
I have an embarrassing amount of make up. Not joking, I do. And for the past year or so it has gotten WAY out of hand. I had 2 large GlamBoxes full of makeup that I was working from every single morning — We’re talking full drawers just dedicated to red lipstick, pink lipstick, and nudes. It’s beyond overwhelming to say the least. So last year when we finally had the opportunity to create a little vanity space for me to do my makeup each morning, I decided I’d pull out my “every days” to put in my vanity and tuck all of my “special products”, i.e. the ones I don’t use daily, back in the closet.
Great idea, right? This plan worked for a few days and I was so proud of myself that I was able to put all my favorite products within reach. Because there is NOTHING worse than running late and not being able to find your favorite red lipstick, in a sea of 50. This plan worked for a while, and then it didn’t.
I am not, by any stretch of an imagination, a messy person. I like everything out of sight, which means drawers, closets, and cabinets can get out of hand really fast. I’m constantly shoving things into drawers and if something doesn’t have a home, I’ll just find it one in the nearest cabinet. So I may not be messy, but I can become disorganized if I let myself.
… and, oh, did I let myself.
This is the before picture of my vanity drawer. It’s a MESS. Even though it’s 1000xs better than it was when ALL of my products were together, it still became increadibly frustrating. I lost my eyeliner and found it in this draw after a month! That’s when I became fed up. IT was time to call in the big guns… Amazon.
I found these three products below on Amazon and ordered them that same day. I figured the worst that could happen is that they didn’t work, and the best that could happen is my life is changed forever. Spoiler alert, it was the latter.
The 3 Organizing Products That Will Revolutionize Your Beauty Drawer
Clear Mounting Putty
My main fear with purchasing drawer organizers is thinking of plastic containers sliding all around the drawer. It was giving me a tick just thinking about it! This mounting putty was the solution! Put a tiny bit on the corners of each container and they stay right in place.
As soon as everything arrived I immediately went to work on cleaning and organizing my beauty drawer. It took me a whole of 20 minutes and it looked like something right out of the The Home Edit. Organizing can often feel daunting, especially when you don’t know where to start. But I would encourage you to start with your beauty drawer, something you look at each and every morning. Everything in its place puts an instant calm over my day! I now love sitting down at my vanity each morning because I know exactly where my favorite liquid eyeliner is. 😉
… and if you are wondering, yes. This little vanity project sparked a giant drawer/cabinet/closet organizing frenzy in our home over the holidays. Now everything has a place and nothing makes me happier!
