Batch Cocktails for Easy Entertaining
It’s hard to believe that today is Friday already. Not only is it the start of the weekend, but we’re literally in the final moments before Christmas. I love this time because the anticipation really starts to build. The waiting for relatives coming to town, last minute Christmas shopping, tying up loose ends at work. Everyone has some important business to finish and collectively holding their breath until they can check it all of the list. Or maybe that’s just me? Either way, Ashley and I are looking forward to gathering with friends and family over great food and drink during this holiday.
This year we are in charge of making cocktails at Ashley’s family gathering on Christmas day. It’s hard not to feel honored to be responsible for such an “important” task, but it comes with a little pressure as well. I’ve personally hosted parties where I wanted to show off a new cocktail recipe to guests, only to spend the whole night in the kitchen whipping them up one by one. That’s no way to throw a party and it’s why I much prefer batch cocktails. Drinks people can easily make themselves, yet offer the same enjoyment from as if were a craft cocktail. Introducing the Holiday Moscow Mule.
The Holiday Moscow Mule is a simple, delicious drink that is just as easily served in small to large gatherings. What sets it apart from your average Moscow Mule is adding cranberry juice and a sprig of fresh rosemary. The combination of the cranberry’s warmth and tart flavor with the refreshing fragrance of rosemary give it an unmistakeable holiday taste.
The best part is that you can make them one at a time or prepare a batch in advance for easy group serving. We’ve actually tested this out at a live party of 20+ people, so have no fear. You won’t regret the little bit of preparation that goes into it because you’ll be relaxing with your company, drink in hand, all evening long.
Holiday Moscow Mule Recipe

- Solid Copper Mule Mug (optional)
- Lime Wedges
- 1/4 oz. Lime Juice
- 2 oz. Vodka
- 4-6 oz. Ginger Beer
- 2 oz. Cranberry Juice
- Fresh Rosemary Sprigs
- Frozen Cranberries
One at a time: Fill a cup to the top with ice. Add the vodka, cranberry juice, and lime juice. Then pour in the ginger beer. Garnish with a sprig of rosemary, a few frozen cranberries, and a lime wedge. You’re done!
Batch instructions: Multiply the ingredients by the number of guests. Combine the vodka, cranberry juice, and lime juice in a large pouring pitcher. Lay out the rosemary, lime wedges, and cranberries on a serving dish or individually in bowls. Just before the party, add ice to your pitcher and leave the ginger beer on the side. Guests can pour the pitcher ingredients, ginger beer, and garnish to their liking in a matter of seconds.
