Fresh Flowers are My Love Language
If you’ve been a reader for a while then you know that I am obsessed with keeping fresh flowers around my house. You may also know that I am a long time fan of FTD Flowers! Not only have I worked with them for years and even joined their team at the National Flower Show in Philadelphia two years ago, but I’ve personally been an “FTD Gold Member” for years and years (no service or shipping fees, plus access to discounts). In my opinion, there is NOTHING better than sending and receiving fresh flowers.
Like you, I mostly think of FTD as a place I go to order flowers for friends, family members, and colleagues to mark major life events (graduations, new jobs, babies born, or condolences). I want to say I send flowers at least a dozen times a year. What I don’t often think about is ordering flowers for myself. Why is that??
To be fair, the idea has hit me before – Like on a busy week ahead of a get together when I just don’t have time to get the store and buy flowers. So this year… I decided to test it out!
I thought it would be fun to order a big bouquet of flowers for an upcoming dinner party. Whenever I host I always have two things, (food and decor), on my brain… Will the food be tasty and hot? Will the flowers be fresh and pretty? And so forth. I ordered the “Gala” bouquet from FTD as my “wow” centerpiece which let me focus all of my attention on the menu!
Stretching the Bouquet
Once the bouquet arrived, I realized just how beautiful and big it was; that I could actually take a few roses out and still have a pretty spectacular centerpiece! I ended up clipping the stems from a few roses and, with them, formed a runner with some leftover holiday garland greens. It turned out to be unexpected and beautiful. It also made for a pretty great “wow” moment when our guests arrived!
After the party was over and the clean up started, I changed clothes and decided to break apart the large bouquet into a few smaller ones to place throughout the house. Even though the bouquet was incredible, I love having fresh flowers in some of our most used spaces – home office, coffee table, and nightstands! This arrangement ended up being the flowers that just kept giving!
There’s nothing like knowing you got the most bang for your buck, am I right?! So this season, as you are rushing around getting ready for your next holiday soirée, think about ordering flowers for your table so you can focus on the meal. Then look forward to playing florist the next day as you fill your home with freshly cut flowers!
