Finding A Morning Routine

I love a Routine…

I always tend to write things like this when I am lacking in an area, and right now it would be my morning routine. It’s legitimately all over the place at the moment. Between recent travel and hurricane prep, I have no idea what day or what time it is… I feel like I’m in some sort of vortex and I’ve got to get my act together.

I’m definitely getting all the things done, but I feel a bit out of control, you know?! Working out at lunchtime instead of first thing in the morning, putting off journaling and coffee for e-mails and stress. I mean, this isn’t rocket science or anything, but wow, I’ve got to get it together! I always feel so much better and significantly less frazzled when I have a solid routine in place, so I’m using this post to get my booty back in order today! We may be under a hurricane watch/warning, but until the power goes out… I can stay on schedule.

*Side note, before I show you my ideal morning, please note that we do not have children yet and I work from home, so this may look different than yours or it may be the exact same! Also, this changes day to day… a few mornings a week we are out the door by 7am to shoot, so there’s no perfect morning!

But either way I’d love to hear what your mornings look like, because if I know anything it’s that we can all learn from each other!

My Ideal Morning Routine:

6:00 am Wake Up

6:15-6:45 Coffee & Journal – My favorite time of day!

7:00 – 8:00 am Workout & Breakfast – This is typically a 2-3 mile run or BBG HIIT workout and a Be Well by Kelly Fab 4 Smoothie.

8:00 – 9:00 am Get Ready – Shower, makeup, hair, etc.

9:00- 9:15 am House Chores – Swap out laundry, water plants, dishes, etc.

9:30 am Officially Ready for Business ­čśë

That’s it, super simple! I know you’re probably thinking, “but what about xyz…?” So I’d love to hear what your ideal mornings look like! I’m always into other women’s routines and find it so fascinating what successful people do first thing in the morning.

    I love this post! It’s perfect as we say goodbye to summer and enter the autumn season with a fresh start. My husband and I just moved to a new beautiful neighborhood from living in the city for 7 years. Needless to say, our morning routines were adjusted starting today and our pup is also getting the hang of a new place. One thing I do not skip in my morning routine is a hot shower. It is so refreshing to have that time to clear your head, say a prayer for the day and make a mental to-do list.

    I definitely savor my morning coffee and commute reading time! If I have time for a morning walk, I listen to podcasts: The LitUp Show, NYTimes Book Review, Revisionist History, or How I Built This

    My day usually runs like this:
    5:00-5:30am Barre on demand or 5:30-6:30 Barre class in studio
    5:30-6:00 Shower
    6:00-6:40 Breakfast, R+F biz, read blogs
    6:40-7:00 Dress, pack lunch
    7:00-8:00 Commute to work.

    I think these are always so interesting to see what everyone’s mornings look like.

    I am so glad you wrote this because a morning (and evening) routine has been on my mind lately. I currently work from home and also do not have any *real* children…. hashtag, dog mom, but I am hoping to go back to school full-time soon which will throw a serious monkey wrench in my daily activities. I need to harness a zen morning before the day comes crashing down.
    I also get so curious about other people’s routines and what might help me as well. I’d love to incorporate exercise for me, a short dog walk, a quick straightening of the house if needed, journaling, coffee, and a breakfast on the go – not to mention normal daily ablutions. The other kicker is – the daylight is starting to disappear in the mornings already! So, there’s that.
    Thank you for the motivation to get things moving!

    I’m always interested in other people’s routines! I work part-time at an office and part-time at home freelance, so my days look different depending on the day of the week. Some days I drop the kids off at school, other days they get bused from daycare. But I try to get up at the same time every day (6:15am) and get myself ready before anyone else gets up, so I get some quiet time to start the day.

    I love this routine! I always try to journal first thing in the morning as well before too many hassles and worries start to fill up my mind.
