I Couldn’t Help Myself!

A few weeks ago I was helping my mom and sister source outfits for an upcoming trip. They both were in desperate need of a few “pop” pieces to wear with their basics, so I of course went straight to Anthropologie

I’ve been shopping there more and more lately to find special pieces that I know will not only be high quality, but will also be a different from what you will see everywhere else. Plus, they really get my retro vibe, so I’m partial to the look.

Anyway, as I was scrolling looking for sweaters and fun pieces they could pack I stopped dead in my tracks when I saw this top. OMGosh it instantly reminded me of my very favorite cardigan from GAP kids that I adored, and the nostalgia of it all got to me.

Growing up it was always such a treat to go to the mall, and I remember THE exact day I got said floral embroidered cardigan. It was SUCH a good day. I remember feeling so pretty and special.  Isn’t it funny how some memories like that just stick with you?

So you can see how I was able to justify this top for myself… my 10 year-old self wouldn’t let me pass it up.  I did try to get both my sister and mom to purchase it so that I could just borrow it from them, to which they both said “no, that’s more you than me.”  At least I can say I tried, right?!

Even though it was a bit of a splurge, I know I will wear it with sweater jackets like this one, jean jackets, Jackie style cardigans, and during the Summer I’ll wear it by itself. It will absolutely become a staple… see, there, now I don’t feel so bad about it! 😉 Ha!

If you are wondering, I did in fact help them find a few pieces for their trip and we filled the rest of their suitcases with sweaters from my closet, because why have one closet when you can all share three?! And I’m pretty sure after this post they are both going to text me and ask to borrow this top… because truth be told, my sister had the same cardigan from GAP Kids, and my mother is nothing if not sentimental.

Embroidered? Did you say embroidered???? If I had my choice, everything I own would be embroidered! I know…..a little over the top, but I do love an embroidered anything! And Anthropologie is one of my favorite stores to shop.
I also love your shoes. I am going to try my own DIY project, adding pearls to the heels of an existing pair of shoes. Hopefully the glue I use will hold them in place. I don’t need to leave a breadcrumb trail (of pearls) wherever I’m walking! LOL!!! Can’t wait to see your wardrobe picks for NY Fashion Week!
