The Cutest Craft and Easiest Gift You Can Make This December
This year ditch the cookies because marshmallows are what your really neighbors want. A couple weeks ago my sister, Kyla, came over bearing gifts in the form of marshmallow snowman, which quite literally made my week. If you have been following along for any amount of time then you know… I am OBSSESED with homemade hot cocoa (my vegan hot cocoa recipe here). So an adorable accessory to my beloved hot cocoa is 100% the way to my heart.
The marshmallows were honestly so cute that I asked her if I could share her amazing recipe here. She agreed so now you too can make your hot cocoa extra magical this holiday season. If that wasn’t enough, I decided to kick it up a notch and show you how to turn these sweets into the gift of the season all with supplies purchased at Joann!
Below is a little step by step tutorial on how to whip up these treats:
What you need:
- Powdered sugar
- Meringue powder
- Gel food coloring (I used orange, red, aqua, pink, brown, and black)
- Piping bags, tips, coupler, and rings
Step 1: Cut marshmallows in half and dip the sticky side into powdered sugar.
Step 2: Pipe royal icing onto the marshmallows (not the sugar side).
Pro Tip: I used this icing recipe and it worked great!
Step 3: Place a folded piece of tissue into your “goodie box”. I used red gift wrapping tissue.
Step 4: Dot the bottom of your marshmallows with icing and place them on the tissue. This prevents them from rolling around in the box!
Step 5: Tie ribbon around the box and add a name tag.
Step 6: Slip a card with your favorite homemade hot cocoa recipe on top… I heard this is a good one! Wink-wink
Step 7: Win gift of the year!
I hope you get the chance to whip these up this season, I promise you’ll be the talk of the town!
