This month’s book The Unhoneymooners may have just been my favorite ABBC selection yet! I seriously could not put this book down and read it in less than a weekend. Such a fun, fizzy, and flirty read, and truthfully I’m already sad it’s over. The only thing that has kept me going is looking forward to hearing your thoughts about the book… did you like it as much as I did? Tell me everything!

Let’s get this discussion going! My answers are in the comments below.

So excited to discuss this book!

    1. I might be the only one here… but I’m not sure I’d go! Ha! Actually, I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t go!

    2. Listen, I enter to win HGTV’s Dream Home every single year, and still nothing!

    3. Oh gosh, I have been a bridesmaid quite a few times and have danced the night away in every single one of them. None that were lime green… but I did have a very special floor length satin baby pink one that was covered in crystals that I still find to be kind of remarkable in the best kind of way, ha! Actually I wish I had a reason to bust it out again. 😉

    Loving this book so far!

    1. Oh gosh, haha! I’m not sure I would go, either. It depends on where the vacation was located 🙂

    2. I never win anything, lol. I’ve tried to win different things over the years but no luck yet 🙂

    3. Hahahaha yes! I had to wear a baby pink tea-length dress for one wedding… it wasn’t the pretty/trendy “blush” color but a true baby-shower-pink dress. I ended up repurposing it as the base for a Halloween costume lol

    • June 25, 2019 / 12:11 pm

      Shannon!

So glad to hear you are loving it!!

Hah! and I love your answer to number 3… repurposing is the best! lol

Haha! Who hasn’t taken an old bridesmaid dress or prom dress and turned it in to a costume?! I love that! Haha!

Great book selection! I too devoured it in a weekend, it’s the perfect easy breezy beach read.

    1. I don’t know that I would go! Maybe if it was something where we really could spend it separately (i.e. not pretending to be newlyweds).

    2. I’ve entered some contests, but sit more with Olive on the luck at winning them.

    3. Not a lime green dress, but I did have a kelly-green bridesmaid dress. It was okay, but it definitely went to the goodwill pile not long after the wedding.

    • June 25, 2019 / 12:10 pm

      Mallory!

Love hearing that you loved it!

Haha, you and me both girl… I never win the dream vacations! Maybe this year will be our year!

Yay Mallory! I’m so glad this was a quick fun read for you too!

  4. Amelia
    June 25, 2019 / 9:25 am

I L.O.V.E.D. This BOOK! I absolutely devoured it! Olive’s quick wit and Ethan’s expressions had me laughing out loud in my office during lunch breaks! I could not get enough of their banter and was so glad to hear Ethan’s perspective at the end!

    1. A free vacation sounds so enticing! And like Olive I would assume I could slip away and do my own thing- but of course I would probably be lumped together with my enemy knowing my luck! The people you’re with make or break your vacation so… no? I wouldn’t go? Unless you twisted my arm? Ha! So indecisive!

    2. I’m not obsessive like Ami, but I do enter to win contests like Lake pajamas, Gal Meets Glam giveaways, youtuber giveaways (Kristin Johns!) – all low stakes. I used to enter the HGTV dream home contest like Ashley every year and then my dad told me about the taxes I’d have to pay when I complained to him about submitting so many entries… and that kinda cured me of entering any big sweepstakes ever!

    3. I have YET to be a bridesmaid and it kills me! But I’m really one of the few people married in my friend group (married young, and I’m only 24 now so I’m still very young!), and the others aren’t even dating so I have no idea if/when my time will come!

Does anyone else think that Ami was incredible/brave/strong in calling out Dane the way she did?! I’m not one for confrontation and amidst deep hurt I don’t think I would’ve been able to be in control of my emotions like she was.

    • June 25, 2019 / 12:08 pm

      Amelia!

So thrilled you loved this book as much as I did !

And YES!!! Ami is a total boss for what she did… I LOVED that part of the book.

    1. No, I would probably not travel with someone I hated.
    2. No, I usually don’t take the time to do it.
    3. No, but my bridesmaids were in lime green dresses

I enjoyed the book. It was an easy fun read. Great summer book.

I’m going to keep rereading this book forever, it’s THAT good!

    1. Would you go on a trip with someone you “hated” if it meant a free vacation?
Um… OF COURSE. My bags are already packed.
    2. I loved Olive’s sister Ami’s obsession with winning contests! Have you ever entered to win a free vacation, home, etc…?
No, but this book definitely made me want to!
    3. The bad bridesmaid dresses had me rolling with laughter… have you ever had your own “lime green” bridesmaid experience?
Fortunately, nope! But I’ll definitely keep this in mind for my future bridesmaids!

    • June 25, 2019 / 2:20 pm

Hahah!! You WOULD Katherine. Dying over your answer to #1! Hahah!

I loved the way the writers slowly eased Olive & Ethan together, and it was so satisfying in the best way to see them together (and hate each other less! Haha!!)! This was actually the first novel I’ve read in YEARS. I am a mom to a 6 year old, 3 year old and a 5 month old baby girl, so I felt very accomplished. It was the perfect book for me to “veg” out on after all the chaos of kids during the day, and it was just such a fun and easy read!

    1. If the vacation was as amazing as that, I might go if I could split up and not see that person much or at all, like Olive’s plan was.

    2. I have entered the HGTV dream house contest every year too! One day! One day!!! Haha!

    3. I was a bridesmaid many many times, and while I didn’t always love the dresses, I never actually hated any of them! Kind of a miracle!

    • June 25, 2019 / 2:22 pm

I agree Haley, the book was so satisfying!

Also, 3 cheers for you for finishing a novel!! YAY!

    1. I don’t think I could pull the trigger. I can’t imagine enjoying the vacation part if I wasn’t enjoying the company.

    2. I enter to win tickers to The Master’s every year (so does my sister!). We’re still waiting to win…

    3. OMG, first of all I am the opposite of that movie 27 dresses. I’ve been a bridesmaid all of 3 times. Lucky for me, all of those dresses were pretty–not that I’ve ever worn them again, haha!

    • June 25, 2019 / 2:21 pm

Oh, I feel like the Master’s is totally within reach. I’m starting a campaign to make this happen!!

    June 25, 2019 / 1:57 pm

This was definitely my favorite read of 2019 so far! I can’t wait to see what July’s book is!

    1. It depends on where the vacation was located- but there are definitely some people I don’t get along with and I’m not sure if I could do it!!

    2. I love to enter contests! I just entered one a few minutes ago!! But I definitely don’t win and have the same luck as Olive!

    3. I haven’t had any terrible dress experiences. The worst was wearing a yellow dress and having to tan a TON to look somewhat OK in it!

    • June 25, 2019 / 2:22 pm

Ah! Sara, I love hearing that!!! xx – AB

  10. Kelly Loftus
    June 25, 2019 / 5:20 pm

    1. I would probably end up going on vacation with someone I don’t like because we wouldn’t have to spend the entire time together. I would also know that there’s a good chance I would end up liking them towards the end of the trip.

    2. I’ve entered into a few contests, but there’s always a catch and the catch never ends up making it worthwhile.

    3. I wore a bridesmaid dress that was meant for one size type of women, but it wasn’t terrible on me. But I’m my wedding I was sure to get a dress that flattered all the women and I didn’t want anything too right or showy – it was in a church!

    • June 26, 2019 / 2:16 pm

Hahah! I love your answer to #1, Kelly!! xx – AB

    June 25, 2019 / 6:01 pm

This was one of my favorite books I have read this year! I took it on vacation with me and finished it within the first day it was impossible to put down.

    1. I don’t think I would actually be able to go! I think the fear of not being able to do my own thing/ being forced to actually be together would hold me back.

    2. Sadly, I have never won anything that I entered but still holding out hope.

    3. Unfortunately, I have never been a bridesmaid so no good stories!

    • June 26, 2019 / 2:17 pm

Cat, I LOVE hearing that!!! You and me both, couldn’t put it down!

  12. Laura Hulsey
    June 26, 2019 / 10:46 am

    1. I could totally go on a vacation with someone I “hate”. I’m pretty good at doing my own thing and am SO comfortable avoiding confrontation lol.

    2. I have entered thousands of contests but never really win. Before my wedding I entered hundreds, all I won was 10% off a website I didnt want to order anything from. My luck isn’t stellar, but I still try none the less.

    3. No lime green bridesmaids dresses, but I did pick rose gold as my bridemaids dress color. Only person it wasn’t great for was my bridesmaid who doesnt wear dresses, she chose a blush colored suit with a rose gold blouse, it wasn’t her style but she rocked it.

    • June 26, 2019 / 2:18 pm

      Laura!!!
I love your answer to number 1… you go girl! ha!

  13. Abbie
    June 26, 2019 / 2:44 pm

Loved this book! Read it in less than a weekend as well!!

    1. I think the vacation would have to be somewhere pretty amazing for me to say yes, and I’d need the option for separate rooms! Ha!

    2. I’m definitely an Olive when it goes to winning contests. Not much luck! Maybe that just means I need to enter more!

    3. Thankfully the majority of the bridesmaid dresses I’ve wore have been ok, but I did have one that reminded me a satiny mermaid- an awful green color with cap sleeves and a big bow on the behind! Let’s put it this way, it reminds me of “27 Dresses” whenever I think of it! 🙂

    • June 27, 2019 / 11:05 am

HAHAH! Your answer to #3 was too funny!!!! xxx

This was such a fun read! I went to Hawaii on my honeymoon and it’s a magical place.
    1. I would probably go! But I don’t think I hate anyone that much.
    2. I’ve won tickets by calling into a radio station! So exciting 🙂
    3. I’ve been a bridesmaid 4 times and I’ve lucked out with pretty dresses, but have never worn them again. My bridesmaids wore green but definitely a pretty shade.

    • June 27, 2019 / 11:04 am

Kim! I love that!! Hawaii is really so magical!

    June 27, 2019 / 4:24 pm

    1. I think I would go. Realistically, there are few trips that you’d go on that you are forced to spend every second together and it seems like you would be able to distance yourself enough. Plus, who doesn’t love a free vacation? I know I would!

    2. I enter to win things all the time, but can’t think of anything I have won that was really all that big. Here’s hoping!

    3. I have a few bridesmaid dresses, don’t overly love any of them. But… I did have a zipper break on one of the dresses. That was super cute. Not!

This was SERIOUSLY my favorite book in the book club yet! It was can’t put it down, tear me away, got nothing else done all day good! More like this, please. 🙂

    • June 28, 2019 / 7:54 am

Cristina!! Your answer to #2 had my laughing… you and me BOTH! #fingerscrossed

  16. Nicole
    June 28, 2019 / 9:59 am

I really loved this book! The authors are so great at writing witty banter and now I want to read more of their books. Excellent summer reading!

    1. Would you go on a trip with someone you “hated” if it meant a free vacation?
Nope! I have a toddler now so my free time is very limited and I’m very intentional with how I spend it. No wasting time on the “haters”!

    2. I loved Olive’s sister Ami’s obsession with winning contests! Have you ever entered to win a free vacation, home, etc…?
I have entered many contests and never win! But, the first thing I won was the ABBC book last month so this book club will always have a special place in my heart. Thanks!

    3. The bad bridesmaid dresses had me rolling with laughter… have you ever had your own “lime green” bridesmaid experience?
Not really, honestly! I never wear my bridesmaid dresses again but I’ve enjoyed wearing each one 🙂

    • July 8, 2019 / 11:25 am

Nicole, I totally agree! It really was SUCH a fun read!

    June 30, 2019 / 8:24 pm

I finished the book just in the nick of time before June ended! I absolutely loved it. I was nervous that it might be a little overhyped/not live up to my expectations, but it was everything I wanted and more! Christina Lauren does it again (insert praise hands)

    1. Absolutely. I love to travel so I would hop on a plane with anyone just about anywhere, especially if it was for free!

    2. I wouldn’t say I’m quite to Ami’s extreme, but I do always enter contests when the opportunity arises, especially if it isn’t a “loop giveaway” and it doesn’t require following a bazillion bloggers. I’ve actually been fortunate to win a few! I’ve won a Marriott giftcard through a giveaway with Catherine Lowe and tickets to a Hello Sunshine event! Hoping for more of Ami’s luck soon!

    3. I’m going to a bridesmaid for the 9th time in August and fortunately none of the dresses have been hideous! Of course, they all are very much bridemaid dresses and won’t be worn again, even though they are always so expensive!

Great pick! This is my favorite book club for sure. Looking forward to July!

    • July 8, 2019 / 11:25 am

Ellie!! JUST in the nick of time! So thrilled you loved it!

I just finished the book yesterday! I really
    enjoyed it:)
    1. I think it would depend on where the trip was. I might consider it for a trip to hawaii but it would be hard to go with someone I hate!!

    2. Yes, I love contests! I have won a few really small ones before and it is always so exciting!! I didn’t even think about the fact that there are probably people like Ami who enter like crazy to win!

    3. Thankfully, all of the weddings I have been a part of had really great bridesmaids dresses!

    • July 8, 2019 / 11:58 am

Cat, thrilled you loved the book!

Also I loved your answer to number one. I agree… Hawaii would be so hard with someone you hate!! xx

    July 1, 2019 / 10:00 pm

Oh my! Just finished reading this book today and COULD NOT GET ENOUGH! Read it in a couple days which says a lot for me being that it takes me weeks to get through a book. I literally laughed out loud with the banter between Olive and Ethan. (All the different names that started with their first name initial?! Dead.)

And I agree with Amelia, I appreciated the epilogue and reading Ethan’s point of view. I was seriously SWOONING as he talked about his feelings towards Olive.

    1. I don’t know! If I were single, maybe? Hard to pass up a free vacation to Maui!

    2. I’ve entered multiple and I have not won a single one!

    3. My bridesmaid dress experience wasn’t necessarily a color issue but more so the style of the dress. It was a trumpet style dress and not so flattering on me at that time! I have like multiple pairs of spanx and contraptions to hold everything in place!

Just ordered Nine Women, One Dress. Can’t wait to get started on it!

    • July 8, 2019 / 11:59 am

Vicky, you and me BOTH! The Epilogue was just so good!!! xx – AB

    July 2, 2019 / 9:25 am

Late to this party because I just finished the book today. Really enjoyed it – perfect summer read! I liked that the side characters were fleshed out and that Olive had an interesting family life.

    1. I wouldn’t mind traveling with someone I hated, but sharing a room would be rough! It would really depend on the destination and how much I wanted to go. Scotland, Austria, or South Africa? Yes!

    2. Not a huge content person, because I almost never win! My partner is one of those lucky people like Ami, though, and wins things constantly, so I get second-hand benefits.

    3. In most of the weddings I’ve been in the bride had us choose our own dresses – thank goodness! I guess the nice thing about Olive’s dress is that it was free. It would really hurt to have to wear an ugly dress AND pay an arm and a leg for it!

    • July 8, 2019 / 12:00 pm

      Emilie!

You’re never late to the party! Just so glad you read it! Also, I loved your answer to number 3! You are right.. it was FREE! hahah!

    1. Petty positive I would never go on a trip with someone I hate, however after reading this book my opinion may have changed.
    2. The only thing I have ever entered is the HGTV dream home, and no I didn’t win!
    3. I have never had a lime green “skittle” fiasco, but I have had a few mermaid style dresses that did not sit will with my giant bubble butt.

    • July 8, 2019 / 12:01 pm

Hahah! Loved your answer to number 1! ha!

LOVED this book!! It was such an easy read and a fun one, the constant banter cracked me up.

    1. I would absolutely go on a free vacation with someone I hated, I mean why no?!

    2. Ami’s personality is so cute, her obsession with winning contests made me want to enter more. I’ve entered a few but haven’t won anything yet.

    3. So far I haven’t had a “lime green” bridesmaid experience but I’m sure I will one day!

    • July 15, 2019 / 3:10 pm

I’m with you Stephanie! Loved the constant banter! xx
