1. Maddie and Vivian spend Christmas half way around the world from their native California. Have you ever spent the holidays somewhere far from home? Or would you ever consider it?

2. We loved Malcolm and Vivian’s notes back and forth to one another. Do you ever send love notes or postcards? Do you have any special ones you’ve saved over the years?

3. We love how Jasmine Guillory’s books operate within the same universe. Each main character of her books is mentioned within a broad circle of friends and acquaintances in her other books. Have you read her other books and are there characters you are hoping will get their own story soon?

    So excited to discuss!!

    1. Maddie and Vivian spend Christmas half way around the world from their native California. Have you ever spent the holidays somewhere far from home? Or would you ever consider it?

I haven’t but honestly, I’m totally into the idea! We have friends who flew to France for Thanksgiving this year and I’m JEALOUS! I also have a girlfriend who is doing a full on cozy staycation by herself in a fancy hotel, and that also sounds like luxury!!

    2. We loved Malcolm and Vivian’s notes back and forth to one another. Do you ever send love notes or postcards? Do you have any special ones you’ve saved over the years?

I’m a love note kind of gal! Ryan and I write love notes all the time. And growing up I had a pen pal and that was just so much fun. There is nothing better than a hand written note!

    3. We love how Jasmine Guillory’s books operate within the same universe. Each main character of her books is mentioned within a broad circle of friends and acquaintances in her other books. Have you read her other books and are there characters you are hoping will get their own story soon?

I’ve read all of Jasmine’s books and love that the characters are intertwined! I hope she does another royal themed book… because you know, those are my faves! 😉

No, but now Christmas in England sounds so fun and cozy!
    2. We loved Malcolm and Vivian’s notes back and forth to one another. Do you ever send love notes or postcards? Do you have any special ones you’ve saved over the years?
I love handwritten notes and definitely need to start writing to people more! It’s such a thoughtful gesture!
    3. We love how Jasmine Guillory’s books operate within the same universe. Each main character of her books is mentioned within a broad circle of friends and acquaintances in her other books. Have you read her other books and are there characters you are hoping will get their own story soon?
I loved the proposal too, but I would really love a book about Julia, the chef! I just adored her character and how she was quite the matchmaker!

I’m with you, next year we should do a group trip to London!! 😉

  3. November 26, 2019 / 9:42 am

    1. I never have had Christmas away from home, but after this book, if I had the chance to go to England, I think I’d have to take it!
    2. I don’t, and the minimalist in me never keeps sentimental papers, but maybe someday I’ll exchange some special ones. 🙂
    3. I haven’t read any of her others but I would really love to now! I enjoyed her writing style and found it just the right amount of fun, fluffy, and real!

Loved this one and definitely think it’ll be in my permanent collection of books to read every Christmas season. ☕️

    • November 26, 2019 / 10:47 am

I love that this one made your permanent Christmas collection!! Thanks for reading along, Taylor! xx

    1. Maddie and Vivian spend Christmas half way around the world from their native California. Have you ever spent the holidays somewhere far from home? Or would you ever consider it?
I have not. I think it would be fun, but my kids are very adamant that we celebrate at home, with my parents (+my siblings & their cousins). They can’t imagine celebrating without snow.

    2. We loved Malcolm and Vivian’s notes back and forth to one another. Do you ever send love notes or postcards? Do you have any special ones you’ve saved over the years?
I used to have pen pals growing up, that I loved writing to. I wish I had someone to correspond with because I love writing notes and have a collection of beautiful stationery.

    3. We love how Jasmine Guillory’s books operate within the same universe. Each main character of her books is mentioned within a broad circle of friends and acquaintances in her other books. Have you read her other books and are there characters you are hoping will get their own story soon?
I haven’t read any of her other books, but they are on my list!

I used to have a pen pal too!! I miss those days!! xx

1- I have never spent the holidays away from
Home. My parents and I did spend Easter in Hawaii once which was magical, but now with a family I just can’t imagine Christmas anywhere but home….unless I’m staying with a Princess in England!!

2- I’m a very sentimental person. I have every card that my husband and I have given each other over the years. I also have saved cards from my grandmother and aunt who has passed away and got their signatures placed on Christmas ornaments.

3- I have not read any other books by the author but I’m so excited to dive in and continue reading. I absolutely love when books have ties to other books by the same author, it makes you feel so connected to them and that they are friends!

    • November 26, 2019 / 10:48 am

Sara, you and me BOTH. I have every single card and post-it! haha!!

  6. Sabrina
    November 26, 2019 / 10:45 am

I have spent a few thanksgivings away and am about to do it again this week! It always with family, so I still feel like I get to celebrate the holiday and it’s fun to do it away from home sometimes!

I love sending mail and postcards, but haven’t done too much of it since I was younger! I had a pen pal once and it was so much fun! I need to get back into it!

This was the first book I’ve read from her! Excited to read more, especially after hearing this! Does Maddie have a story? If not, I want to hear hers or her friend’s who gave her this job!

    • November 26, 2019 / 10:49 am

Sabrina! I love that… I hope you are going somewhere fun!! xx

    1. Growing up, I always assumed that like my parents and grandparents, I would stay near home and be around family for Christmas, though eight years ago, I moved 1200 miles away from the home I grew up in and have only been back for brief visits. Now, my family comes to me (from WI to FL) and we spend Christmas surrounded by palm trees instead of snow. I’d love to find new destinations in the future that we could all travel to so that rather than giving gifts, our gift would be to enjoy a new place and experiences together, making memories.

    2. I wish! I send cards throughout the year to my grandparents and close friends who live in other states because a handwritten note is so powerful and meaningful. I save all the cards they send in return and have probably a half-dozen shoeboxes filled with them. But, I never wrote notes with my now-husband and wish we had. It’s such a beautiful art.

    3. Yes! This is my favorite part about Jasmine Guillory’s books – that her characters are all in the same universe and connected. I would love to see her write one about Olivia (Alexa’s sister – from The Wedding Date) and another on Carlos’ sister (from the Proposal). Emily Giffin is another author that does something similar in that her characters are within the same universe and often a character from a previous book makes an appearance, even if just for a scene or quick mention. I love catching up on their lives. One of my biggest frustrations when a book is finished is that I’m so wrapped up in their lives, I want to know how they’re doing down the road. Love these glimpses into how things have fared for them. So, I’m excited to see who Jasmine Guillory focuses on next.

Megan! I love that you send notes and cards all year round! xx

    1. Maddie and Vivian spend Christmas half way around the world from their native California. Have you ever spent the holidays somewhere far from home? Or would you ever consider it?

I haven’t gone as far away as another country for a holiday, but my husband and I have made sure to see both of our families for the holidays for years, and one year that meant Christmas at my mother in law’s house in Saratoga, NY, and I loved it! I enjoyed experiencing new traditions and seeing the decorations of a new town ect, so that is something I am open to! I think it would be fun to go somewhere far away as well, but I would definitely want my husband and family (and dogs!) with us. I also think it would have to be somewhere that was having winter weather, or it just wouldn’t feel like Christmas! One year I spent the week before Christmas in Florida and it was so bizarre to see the decorations and trees, and have the weather be so summer like.

    2. We loved Malcolm and Vivian’s notes back and forth to one another. Do you ever send love notes or postcards? Do you have any special ones you’ve saved over the years?

My husband loves to make homemade cards, so we used to always make those for each other for every holiday, anniversary and birthday. Life has gotten busy, but we still do handwritten cards for every occasion, and I keep all of them! I know one of my favorite things from our wedding is all of the cards and personal messages.

    3. We love how Jasmine Guillory’s books operate within the same universe. Each main character of her books is mentioned within a broad circle of friends and acquaintances in her other books. Have you read her other books and are there characters you are hoping will get their own story soon?

I have not read other books, but I am going to! It was such a fun read, and I thought Vivian was really relateable. I would love to see more of Maddie, because she seems like a great character and I would love to see more of her fashion/stylist career.

Lindsay–Christmas in Florida is definitely different, we have to get creative in cultivating that winter feeling ;). Thanks for reading along!

Okay, how cute is it that your husband likes to make homemade cards! Dying. That’s adorable. – AB

    1. I’ve never spent the holidays far from home, but thanksgiving in NYC has been on my bucket list for forever. Christmas is magical no matter where you are.

    2. My now husband I wrote letters and notes during the summers when we worked at different summer camps. We still have every single one.

    3. I haven’t read any of her other books. I love when authors have subtle character fluency and Easter eggs in other novels.

I have never been away from home/family for Christmas. I have had thoughts about going away but then decide that I would miss our traditions.

    • December 2, 2019 / 11:31 am

I know! It would be so hard to miss the traditions!!

  11. November 26, 2019 / 3:02 pm

    This book was so cute!

    1. Growing up, my extended family lived in the countryside so we’d go out there for the holidays. Now, we live in a different state, so we’re taking a road trip there this Christmas again. Once, I spent the holidays alone after just having moved to New York City and while it was a little lonely, it was so festive to be in the city during that time. I’d love to spend the holidays in the English countryside one day though.

    2. Definitely, yes, along with pressed flowers given to me 🙂

    3. I’ve read The Proposal and enjoyed it! Throughout this book, I was trying to figure out who would be the next main character and my theory is Malcolm’s nephew since he talked about wanting to move to New York.

    1. When I was younger I could never understand why people would want to go away for Christmas (the logistics are still intimidating to be honest) but as an adult I think it could be really fun, provided all my people are with me!

    2. Ok, so millenial moment here. My now-husband and I corresponded a lot via AIM during our high school dating years. I may or may not have multiple binders full of our conversations. I had a gut feeling they would be worth holding on to. 😉

    3. This is my first Jasmine Guillory book–can you believe it?! I will definitely be going back and reading the others and I’m excited to look for the mentions of my favorite Royal Holiday characters.

    1. Maddie and Vivian spend Christmas half way around the world from their native California. Have you ever spent the holidays somewhere far from home? Or would you ever consider it?

I studied my university years in France and I spend Christmas with my university friends. At first it was hard because in my family Christmas and New Years are a very big deal, we all get together and have so much fun. But after the first Christmas apart, I began to make new traditions and enjoy things that I didn’t have in my country (Central America, lot of sun and heat, and definitely no snow).

    2. We loved Malcolm and Vivian’s notes back and forth to one another. Do you ever send love notes or postcards? Do you have any special ones you’ve saved over the years?

I love to send cards to family and friends that live in different countries, for their birthdays, Valentine’s Day, Christmas…

    3. We love how Jasmine Guillory’s books operate within the same universe. Each main character of her books is mentioned within a broad circle of friends and acquaintances in her other books. Have you read her other books and are there characters you are hoping will get their own story soon?

Royal Holiday is my first Jasmine Guillory book and I loved it!! Finished it in 3 days so I definitely will be reading more of her books! 🙂 picking today a book of the Ashley Brooke fall list!! 🙂

    1. Maddie and Vivian spend Christmas half way around the world from their native California. Have you ever spent the holidays somewhere far from home? Or would you ever consider it?

We were in military and spent some away. None far away from where we were living but away from family. I would love to go somewhere fun. I would go somewhere cold like GB or Ireland…I’d love to see Norway.

    2. We loved Malcolm and Vivian’s notes back and forth to one another. Do you ever send love notes or postcards? Do you have any special ones you’ve saved over the years?

I don’t ever send them anymore but I have kept all letters received from my husband while he was in boot camp and deployed. Back when they didn’t have internet easily accessible. Makes me want to send him one; he does work out of town.

    3. We love how Jasmine Guillory’s books operate within the same universe. Each main character of her books is mentioned within a broad circle of friends and acquaintances in her other books. Have you read her other books and are there characters you are hoping will get their own story soon?

I haven’t read any more of hers prior. I went to add it to my good reads account and saw its like book 4 or something and thought oh no I’m gonna be lost. Fortunately I wasn’t. I would like to find out if Maddie ends up with a princess client full time.

    1. While I do love the excitement of traveling to new places, I have never spent the holidays away from home. However; IF and ONLY IF, I had my important family and significant other with me, I would absolutely travel away for the holidays! For me, I don’t think it’s really about the location of the Holiday as much as it is the people during the Holidays. I would never spend it far away from my parents. Now that I am thinking about it… Christmas in Hawaii sounds like a dream come true.

    2. My first boyfriend and I had a long-distance relationship. We would send letters every so often in addition to texting and phone calling every day, I can’t remember what we wrote about. But, I always felt butterflies when I saw his handwriting on an envelope. Of course I have all of them saved in a box somewhere. Sweet memories.

    3. Unfortunately, I haven’t read Jasmine’s other books, but I think it’s so cool when author’s do this! What are some other author’s that have “characters in the same universe”?

    • December 2, 2019 / 11:20 am

Ah! Sarah, I love hearing that you sent letters!!! How sweet! xx

    1. No I’ve never spent Christmas away from home. Being in Florida, I would love to take my kids to go see snow for Christmas one year!

    2. I keep every card from my husband. It would be nice to put them all in a binder or keepsake box instead of a nightstand drawer. Haha.

    3. I read The Proposal. Definitely want to read her other books now!
