    1. Do you believe in love at first sight?

Call me crazy, but I do! I don’t know, I think there is magic in believing in love at first sight!

    2. Was there an encounter over the course of Jack and Laurie’s long and winding road that was your favorite?

Ugh, there are so many. But the ferris wheel was just so good.

    3. How do you think Laurie and Sarah’s friendship would have been affected if Laurie had told her right away when she recognized Jack?

I honestly go back and forth on this one. I think their friendship could have survived but I’m not sure Laurie and Jack’s story would have.

I really enjoyed this book. It kept pulling me forward to see what was going to happen next.

    1. I don’t believe in love at first sight. I think I’m just too practical and analytical. I believe in interest at first sight….and the sense that there is a connection with a person….but I wouldn’t consider it love at that point. But, having said that, for some reason in this book I believed that Laurie and Jack did find love at first sight.

    2. Their ferris wheel ride was one of my favorite encounters. I appreciated how Jack wanted to make sure Laurie got that wish fulfilled. And also when Laurie found her wedding dress and Jack was with her and he knew instantly that was the perfect dress for her.

    3. Interesting question. I think it would have been awkward at first for both Laurie and Sarah if Laurie had been honest up front. Even though Sarah was deeply involved with Laurie finding “bus stop boy”, I think she possibly wouldn’t have believed that Jack was him because really, what are the chances? And I think, as much as she loved Laurie, she was a little wrapped up in herself and she was the one who initiated the beginning with Jack. It would have all hinged on what Jack’s response would have been. But I think Sarah would have come around. I was astounded that Sarah and Jack’s relationship lasted as long as it did.

    1. Do you believe in love at first sight?

No, I think at that stage it is merely attraction, and maybe an instant connection with a person. But for me, I thin true love develops over time and getting to know a person. For example, Laurie tried to avoid Jack once she had made the decision not to tell Sarah, because she realized that she was developing a true connection with him after talking to him. It just as easily could have gone the other way, that although she had instantly found him attractive, there wasn’t a true connection there.

    2. Was there an encounter over the course of Jack and Laurie’s long and winding road that was your favorite?

I think for me, when he and Laurie go into the vintage dress shop together where she ends up buying her wedding dress, and he buys the hat that he saves for her all those years. I think in that moment, when he shows that he just wants her to be happy, that he truly loves her.

    3. How do you think Laurie and Sarah’s friendship would have been affected if Laurie had told her right away when she recognized Jack?

I think honestly, it would have truly been the end of their close friendship, because Sarah would have resented Laurie, and really how do you approach that situation? She would have just stopped dating him because Laurie saw him out a bus window? I think they needed to grow up, mature, and realize that although Laurie and Jack did not handle the situation in the best way, that it happened for a reason and that they never meant to hurt Sarah. I think if she had told her, things would have run their course anyway, but that their friendship probably would have just fizzled out, rather than being something they truly decided to fight for.

I totally see the hype with this book, I really liked it, and loved watching the characters grow over time.

    1. Do you believe in love at first sight?
    – I don’t believe in love at first sight. I definitely believe in attraction at first site, but true, lasting love takes time to build, IMO.

    2. Was there an encounter over the course of Jack and Laurie’s long and winding road that was your favorite?
    – I loved when he was with her when she bought her wedding dress. It was so bittersweet. And I love at the end he reveals that he bought that hat for her so long ago and has kept it.

    3. How do you think Laurie and Sarah’s friendship would have been affected if Laurie had told her right away when she recognized Jack?
    – This is a tough question. I feel like Sarah felt like things would have been different if Laurie had spoken up right away, but it would have caused drama no matter what. I’m sure she felt like she would have given him up, no problem, if Laurie had said something right away but I don’t think that’s truly the case.

I’m with you, it’s really hard to gage what it would of been like!

    One of my favorites books!

    1. No I don’t believe in love at first sight, but maybe that’s just because I have never experienced it? I do think it was fun to believe in it while reading this book though!

    2. My favorite part was their kiss in the snow! I know it was kind of a sad moment but it just felt so romantic to me and the whole book had been leading up to this moment and I just thought it was lovely. I also loved Jacks speech at Laurie’s wedding. So awkward but sweet!

    3. I think that if Laurie had told Sarah then it really would have messed things up. Sarah and Jack might have broken up and then Laurie would have been such a good friend that she might have stayed away from him. The way it played out gave her a chance to get to know Jack and build a good friendship.

Can’t wait for more great books in 2021!

    1. Do you believe in love at first sight?

No, I’m a thinker first & a feeler second. I think it’s just attraction until you get to know each other then love develops (or not).

    2. Was there an encounter over the course of Jack and Laurie’s long and winding road that was your favorite?

I thought their first kiss was so raw & I wanted to love it, but I felt so bad for Sarah- so that can’t be my favorite. I’ll say when he was there when she got her dress.

    3. How do you think Laurie and Sarah’s friendship would have been affected if Laurie had told her right away when she recognized Jack?

I think Sarah would’ve reacted dramatically & then come around. I don’t think Jack would’ve stayed in the picture for either of them, though.

I’m glad I read this one. I really enjoyed it.
    1. I do believe in love at first sight– and it happened to me! True story. It was just as I was beginning university
and there he was and gosh, our eyes met across the room, I got the giggles and then he came closer to approach me & introduced himself & got my number. We dated awhile until it just stopped working.
    2. I really liked the vintage shopping they did together & that she found her wedding dress there.
    3. I think yes, that Laurie & Sarah’s friendship would have fizzled right away if Laurie would have announced that Sarah found bus boy upon being introduced Jack.
Looking forward to the next read. Happy New Year, everyone.

Thank you for reading along friend!! And I LOVE this personal story! So sweet!

  8. December 29, 2020 / 9:26 pm

    1. I do believe in love at first sight/conversation. When you know, you just know.

    2. I don’t have a favorite, because I enjoyed most of them. I did love the vintage store segments as I love looking for special finds as well. There is something magical there.

However, I can’t help but thinking that they made so many wrong decisions along the way.

    3. I think if their relationship survived the way it did play out then it would have survived if Laurie had told Sarah up front.

    • January 4, 2021 / 2:25 pm

They totally made SO many wrong decisions, ha!!

    1. Do you believe in love at first sight?
I do! It’s never happened to me, but I love the idea of having an instant connection with someone and just knowing that they’re meant to be in each other’s lives!

    2. Was there an encounter over the course of Jack and Laurie’s long and winding road that was your favorite?
Not sure if this counts as an encounter, but I love when Laurie first calls in to Jack’s radio show towards the end of the book! I love how there was no hesitation when it came to expressing how they both felt, and how Jack FINALLY told Laurie that he remembered her from the bus all those years ago!

    3. How do you think Laurie and Sarah’s friendship would have been affected if Laurie had told her right away when she recognized Jack?
I think it would have been the beginning of the end for their friendship, unfortunately. If Laurie told Sarah, Sarah would have immediately broken things off with Jack but I think she would have resented Laurie in the end, and Laurie would have felt so guilty about the situation that I don’t think she would have forgiven herself.

    1. Do you believe in love at first sight?
    – I have never experienced this, but I do believe that your soul recognizes something meant for you in that moment of first meeting.

    2. Was there an encounter over the course of Jack and Laurie’s long and winding road that was your favorite?
    – It was a very sad moment, but my favorite part of their complicated story is when she calls him about her dad’s passing. I cried so much and really felt the connection between them.

    3. How do you think Laurie and Sarah’s friendship would have been affected if Laurie had told her right away when she recognized Jack?
    – I like to think that their friendship was so strong that Sarah would have stepped back and let Jack go. It would have survived that for sure. I just don’t see how someone in Laurie’s shoes would be able to tell their best friend the truth after seeing how in love she is. That’s so complicated and puts Laurie in a very bad spot. It’s sort of like when you find out your best friend’s man is cheating and you don’t know whether to say something or not since your friend is so in love with him. They may turn on you for ruining their happiness. Even if it’s the right thing to do.

    Loved the book!

    1. Do you believe in love at first sight?
I’m not sure I believe in love at first sight but certainly lust at first sight. And the possibility of not being able to get someone out of your head!

    2. Was there an encounter over the course of Jack and Laurie’s long and winding road that was your favorite?
I KNEW when he went with her to buy her wedding dress it wasn’t going to work out (her relationship with Oscar, that is.) I knew, knew knew they were going to end up together!

    3. How do you think Laurie and Sarah’s friendship would have been affected if Laurie had told her right away when she recognized Jack?
I think if Laurie had admitted to Jack being the bus guy at first Sarah would have broken up with him and then he and Laurie might have gotten together but I think that would have ruined her friendship with Sarah. I believe everything happens for a reason and maybe that’s true even in fiction. Once Sarah and Jack ended things and she was over him she was able to see that he and Laurie were meant to be together!

So glad you circled back around to this book, Ashley and Betsy! I missed it last year and was thrilled to get around to it this year! A good, easy read during the Christmas holiday!

    Cheers!

Hi everyone! What a sweet book. I couldn’t put it down!

    1. I’m not sure about love at first sight but I do think two people can have a very strong connection from the moment they meet. True love develops over time. I think in the case of Jack and Laurie, Laurie was in love with jack at first sight and Jack slowly fell in love with her with time.

    2. My favorite moment is when Jack and Laurie are at Sarah’s going away party. The intimate dance they have where Jack declares his love for Laurie but they both agree they can’t be together is gut wrenching.

    3. I think the friendship would have survived. At first it would be extremely awkward and tense but Laurie and Sarah’s bond is so strong that I think they would have worked it out. I’m not sure how Jack would react to the situation and it’s hard to say wether he would choose Laurie over Sarah at this point.

    1. Do you believe in love at first sight? Yes I do! There is a difference between interest or list at first site and love at first site. I don’t think everyone will experience it either.

    2. Was there an encounter over the course of Jack and Laurie’s long and winding road that was your favorite? There we definitely many that were touching. The wedding dress encounter has to be the one I pick as my fave!

    3. How do you think Laurie and Sarah’s friendship would have been affected if Laurie had told her right away when she recognized Jack? It would not have survived. Sarah was already head over heels for Jack by the time Lu met him. Telling her would not have gone well. It was bad enough when she did finally tell her.

    • January 4, 2021 / 12:54 pm

The wedding dress encounter was really so good.

    1. Do you believe in love at first sight?

I do believe in love at first sight. Even if it’s not *love* yet, there’s something special about the first time you see “the one!”

    2. Was there an encounter over the course of Jack and Laurie’s long and winding road that was your favorite?

    The kiss!

    3. How do you think Laurie and Sarah’s friendship would have been affected if Laurie had told her right away when she recognized Jack?

I’m not sure on this one.I think Laurie and Sarah would have still been friends in the end, but I’m not so sure Laurie and Jack’s relationship would have been as strong without all those years of just trying to be friends.

    • January 4, 2021 / 12:53 pm

I’m with you, it’s so hard to know what it would of done to all of their relationships!!

    1. Do you believe in love at first sight?

I believe in lust at first sight and I think that love and lust are often mixed up, but I don’t think you can truly love someone without knowing who they are.

    2. Was there an encounter over the course of Jack and Laurie’s long and winding road that was your favorite?

I loved the first kiss in the snow but I didn’t like what they did to Sarah, so I’ll say the ferris wheel scene, I couldn’t stop smiling!

    3. How do you think Laurie and Sarah’s friendship would have been affected if Laurie had told her right away when she recognized Jack?

I think it depends on what happens after Laurie tells Sarah. If Sarah continued to date Jack, I think they would drift apart. If Sarah beaks up with Jack, I like to think Laurie and Jack would cross paths again in a couple years and get together sooner rather than the 10 years it took them!

The Ferris wheel really was THE BEST!
