First off, let me just preface this backyard DIY post with 1. This project was NOT done in a weekend! and 2. I did little to no work. I picked out flowers and pots… and that’s it. Ryan did this whole thing by himself with the exception of two days when he had a friend help him move rocks.
I Love A Good Wreath!
First off, Happy Valentine’s Day, friends!! I hope today is filled with candy, flowers, and all things pink! And secondly, today is wreath day…. and I am pumped! We shot this little wreath DIY tutorial a few weeks ago, and I’ve been dying to share it with you! I’m all about Valentine’s Day, but I hate buying a wreath that is V-day specific that I really can only use for like, two weeks! So my goal with this wreath was to make it more of a spring wreath. That way I can have it up for February, but leave it up for a while after… because let’s be real, these things take time!
It’s Getting Festive!
A few weekends ago I was in a creative rut, like a serious one. I totally HIT A WALL, and realized that I needed to get out of the house and do something creative with my hands, and thats when I found myself at Micheal’s. We had a Micheal’s store open up by our house over a year ago and I had yet to visit… I know, embarrassing! Anyways, as soon as I stepped foot in the door I kicked myself for not coming in sooner, this was just what I needed to get out of my rut. I went into the store not knowing what I would make, and ended up walking out with a car FULL of Fall goodness on a mission to create my first ever DIY wreath.
To be honest, I have had to get pretty creative with the space. And not to mention, it opens up right into our dining room, so it REALLY cannot be messy! After moving around our existing furniture every-which-way we could think to, we finally gave up and decided we needed a whole new look for the room!
Gallery Wall Magic
Okay, so… can we just talk about how romantic and magical gallery walls seem UNTIL YOU TRY AND DO ONE YOURSELF. Seriously though, WHY are they so hard?! Especially when Pinterest mocks you and makes you feel like you need an art wall in your house that is perfectly curated with the mix of new and old, trendy and weird, etc. etc… I mean honestly, where do you even start to try and pull that off? Thrift stores? Art galleries? Garage sales? Ebay? and not to mention, who has time for that?!
In all reality, I just want something pretty on my walls, and I hate to say it… but time is of the essence. And THAT my friends is where Minted comes in.
This past Valentine’s Day Ryan surprised me with a beautiful vintage Hermès scarf. After my initial FREAK OUT over the beautiful gift I started to brainstorm how I could display it. I couldn’t bare the thought of it folded up in my closet, or collecting dust on my vanity, so we decided the only suitable thing would be to frame it!
