A Ready Made To Be Read List

Hi, Hello! We are back again with a mid-month book chat. How is your August going? Reading anything good? My TBR (To Be Read) list is about a mile long at any given time, so most of the time I feel like there just isn’t enough time to read everything I want to. And for the last month or so, I’ve been in a serious reading rut, which got me thinking–you might be in one too!

I know, for a lot of people, deciding what to read next or where to start can be a real hurdle to a full reading life. I thought it might be fun to put together an Ashley Brooke Book Club Starter Pack” with four titles that really epitomize what our book club is all about, and the kinds of books I love to recommend to readers and friends. These are all my go-to books when I’m just not feeling it and need to get back into reading. I’ve read all of these titles multiple times and each of them make me fall back in love with books.

So, in other words, if you don’t where to start on your reading journey, START HERE:

The ABBC Starter Pack

The Royal We by Heather Cocks & Jessica Morgan on Ashley Brooke Book Club

1. The Royal We

Meet my favorite book of all time! I have read this book no less than five times. And when I say read, I usually mean I’ve listened to it (which totally counts btw) because this particular audiobook is an actual work of art! Read it. Then read it again. You will love it!

2. American Royals

This book is one of the most creative and compulsively readable books I’ve ever read! I know it may seem weird to recommend two royal books, but these are both SO good and surprisingly very different books. McGee’s book positions America as a monarchy and follows the USA’s own royal family. One thing this book does have in common with The Royal We is that they both have a sequel, which is great for your TBR List because you will already have another book ready to go!

Evvie Drake Starts Over

3. Evvie Drake Starts Over

This book has so many of the elements I love in a good rom-com: a lovable protagonist, a quirky small town, and a great supporting cast. This book also has a lot of depth and heart without being heavy, which is so tricky to pull off as an author but honestly my favorite type of reading.

Tweet Cute

4. Tweet Cute

I love a good YA book from time to time, and this one is so, well, CUTE! Emma Lord has become a must-read author for me (her third book is coming out in January of 2022 and I’m so excited!). This You’ve Got Mail inspired plot between rival restaurants and the owners’ teenagers will have you smiling from ear to ear.

Finished Evvie Drake last month. Set in New England…Maine, I believe. Good book. Easy and satisfying read.

The first three are some of my favorite feel-good, fun reads too, so clearly, I need to put Tweet Cute on my must-read-next list! Currently reading Beth and Amy by Virginia Kantra…I really enjoyed Meg and Jo, so I have high hopes for this one too!
