Some Thoughts on personal Style
My girlfriends and I were recently talking about style and what makes us feel the most like ourselves. Even though some of us have similar styles, none of them are exactly the same… and we all felt that style changes depending on what season of life you are in (single, married, motherhood…). Yet there is usually a consistent theme for everyone. For example, even though I like to bounce back and forth from preppy to old Hollywood glam, the main theme that never changes is feminine.
I can’t pull off boyfriend jeans and a tee shirt, I’ve tried. I barely can do a baseball cap and forget any kind of “oversized” anything. But give me a midi skirt that hits right at my waist and a tube of red lipstick, I genuinely feel like I can conquer the world!
What Makes You Feel Confident?
I find myself feeling the most confident when I’m wearing some version of this classic look and I have a very hard time turning down a midi skirt like this one.
Honestly, I’d rather wear this over jeans and a pair of sneakers ANY day of the week!
Last week Ryan and I decided to explore our new local coffee shop, Jacq & Jack, for an afternoon coffee date… Coffee is kind of our “thing” and as soon as we hear about some place new we like to scope it out (it was amazing, by the way!). And on this particular date I knew just what to wear!
I’d recently picked up this skirt on mega sale from Lord & Taylor along with this crop top, which made the whole look feel modern and flirty yet still very classic. And with a swipe of NARS in Bloodflower, I went from not ready to having a full “look” in seconds.
Another thing I love about buying and wearing classic pieces is that they mix and match so well. Like this black leather shoulder bag (30% off!), it’s beautiful and timeless… I’ve been toting it around for the last week straight. It’s downright adorable!
What’s Your Style?
So what style are you? Are you trendy, preppy, eclectic, girly, or glam? My advice is to find what makes you feel the most like yourself and wear that. Who cares what everyone else is wearing!?
If you feel good, you’ll look good!
It’s always a work in progress, but if you start there you can’t go wrong, I promise!
