Yesterday we had a magical morning and afternoon enjoying the 70 degree weather and leisurely taking in our last few hours in New York City! We had a long breakfast and walked through Central Park to Ralph’s Coffee. It was such a lovely way to wrap up our trip. But as soon as we got into our cab and were airport bound, reality hit and we went into full on HURRICANE PREP MODE.
Our flight to Florida last night was practically empty, which never happens! It’s always a packed flight when heading to Orlando. And if that wasn’t spooky enough, a few passengers decided not to board at the last minute after their luggage was already put away. We waited on the tarmac for an hour while they removed their bags from cargo. But honestly, you couldn’t even blame them. Who wants to fly into a hurricane?! NOT. ME.
As soon as we stepped in the door last night we turned around and went straight to the store to stock up on non-perishables, hurricane supplies, and gas. After a magical week in New York City, the reality check was real, and kind of comical.
Today I’ll be picking up Dolly (we missed her so much!) from my parents and getting the rest of the house in order – everything buttoned down, inside, and secure… A far cry from leisurely latte sipping on the Upper West Side, ha!
Here’s hoping we don’t need any of our supplies we picked up and that the storm swirls out into the Atlantic. But if needed, we have chocolate and wine to hold us over.
