Thoughts and Updates
Well, the last few days have officially been a whirlwind! We spent the better part of last week in Sea Island attending (and speaking) at The Southern C Summit. As soon as the conference ended we packed our bags and headed North once again to Charleston to visit family. It’s always my lofty goal while we travel to blog from the road, but it always ends up being one of those things that never gets finished. I started and stopped 3 different posts last week, so by the time Saturday rolled around I gave in to the chaos.
I’m one of those crazy people who need absolute silence while I work and especially when I write. I’m a storyteller by nature, but certainly not a writer. I love retelling events, but grammatically speaking, I’m less than impressive. So I need silence… complete silence. Even though we wake up at 5:30… someway somehow, there’s still a bazillion things I need to do instead of writing the post… like shoot the location at sunrise, respond to e-mails from the day before, etc. etc. Ryan and I are getting better at traveling since we do it so often. We have our packing down to a science (roughly speaking) and our morning routines perfected. Now I just need to get “trip blogging” mastered and we can be considered true jet-setters!! But it’s all about progress, not perfect… right!?
All of that to say, I missed this place for the past week! So today since I’m getting back into the swing of things I thought I’d share with you 5 things that have been on my mind and or loving these past few days…
New Product Obsession:
When we were in NYC a few weeks ago I received a Lafco Candle. It was so beautiful and smelled so delicious that I lugged it from NYC to Newport and back to Orlando by hand. It wouldn’t fit in my expertly packed suitcase, but it was too pretty to leave behind so I sent it through the x-ray machines and brought it home. As soon as we walked in the door I lit the candle because I needed to know my hard work wasn’t in vain thankfully it wasn’t. I’m officially obsessed. I am really sensitive to smell and often get headaches when I’m around perfumes, department stores, or candles, but this brand is a unicorn and I’m in love. I currently have Marine burning on my desk as I type this and my other favorite of the moment is Peony. If you are looking for a little Valentine’s splurge for yourself, I would HIGHLY recommend.
My latest Read:
I have a subscription to Audible, and I love it. I’m not really a subscription girl, must be the Dave Ramsey in me, but Audible is one of those reoccurring costs that I never mind. I am addicted to audio books and almost always have one going. Today I just downloaded Sophie Kinsella’s latest release, “Surprise Me“, and I’m so excited to start it! I’ll keep you updated on how it is.
A Favorite Feel Good Movie:
Last night we rented “Home Again” and I forgot how much I loved this movie. My girlfriends and I saw it in the theater when it came out, but I thought it would be fun to rent! Ryan’s a trooper and is always up for a good rom-com (he’s the romantic one!) and he really enjoyed it as well. Such a fun movie, although I’m sure tonight he’ll want to watch Blade Runner…
Six Cities in Six Weeks:
In the past six weeks we have been to Blue Ridge, Ga –> Palm Beach, FL –> New York City –> Newport, RI –> Sea Island, GA –> Charleston, SC and now we are home and it feels wonderful. I love traveling, exploring, and more than anything adventuring, but I’m really excited to be home for a few weeks. Both Ryan and I are homebodies at heart, so it’s so nice to snuggle up on the couch with a glass of wine on a random Tuesday night. Also, we have quite a few house projects we’d like to tackle… so the next few weeks are will be dedicated to focusing on getting our home back in working order!
Is it Time for a new Puppy?:
I can’t believe it’s been a little over a year since we lost sweet Lucy (our 11-year-old Yorkie-poo). Honestly, it’s been a super hard year without her and I’d like to say I handled it well, but I still cry over it every now and again. The thought of getting another puppy gave me physical pain in my chest for the better part of 2017, but since January I’ve started to feel like it might be a good idea. I miss having a furry best friend and Ryan does too. We know we will never be able to replace Lucy, but maybe the heartache would be less with another little mischievous puppy running around, so we’ve started the search. At the moment we don’t have a dog picked out, but I’ve become OBSESSED with cava-poo-chons and am convinced it’s what we need! You can find me stalking @bluebellpuppies every night on Instagram! If any of you know a good breeder we would love the info! Like I said, we are just starting the search.
