Brunching With The Best!

Today I am so excited to share with you a peek at our Team ABD Brunch from last week. To say it was one of my favorite days would be a complete understatement. I love these girls so much, how hard they work, and how much they believe in the heart behind ABD. It was so amazing to have them all in our home to shower them with love and champagne.

On top of the brunch I spill all the details on Draper James' new Brunch Collection, where to get wholesale Flowers in Central Florida, & more. Enjoy!

My heart almost exploded.

After we took a few photos (because come on, how could we not?!) we sat around our coffee table and chatted about all of are AMAZING projects we have coming up, brain stormed new creative ideas, and then of course did a little show-in-tell of all of our new products that will be launching SOOOOO SOOON. (Side Note: I am freaking out about all of our new products. We’ve been keeping them extra hush hush, but just you wait! They are unreal.).

Ryan and I work with each one of these girls separately and since our office is small we all work remotely, so when everyone is together, its ABD magic!

But back to the brunch…

The weekend before our brunch Ryan and I DIY-ed those wall planters, planted ALL kinds of new flowers, and of course did all of the cooking. I wanted to make sure our girl’s felt extra loved so I made everything from the quiche to the muffins from scratch. Because nothing says “You are special” quite like homemade blueberry lemon muffins!

Another little fun, crafty project I put together for the brunch were these gold “BRUNCH” Balloons! Are they not the cutest?! I ordered the letters off of Amazon and they are reusable. Best decision ever!

Also, for the flowers, on the table we stopped by our favorite local Wholesale Flower Shop (if you’re in Orlando, you need to drop in!) and picked out lots of different flowers that we thought might match the table cloth and on Tuesday morning I put them together. They turned out so bright!

Our brunch just so happened to fall in line with Draper James new brunch line launch. It was so funny, we have had this party on the books for a couple weeks and the week before I found out about DJ’s new line and was so excited to incorporate it in our party. The plates, cake stand, and serving tray ended up being a HIT! The girl’s loved them!

Let’s get cookin’!

Okay, real talk for a minute… I have been totally slacking in the kitchen lately. Like reallllllly slacking. I love to cook (usually) but recently I haven’t gotten around to it. I could give you all of my excuses for not cooking, which are good ones… like working from 7am – 9pm, traveling, and lack of inspiration. But let’s be honest, that never stopped me before!

So here’s my conclusion, I am bored. I’m over the 20-ish recipes I have in a constant rotation. I can whip them up without even looking at a recipe, it’s magical, but I don’t want to. They’ve been done too many times already. Also, I’m over meal planning in general. I don’t understand why we can’t just have popcorn and smoothies for every meal??? I’d be more than happy with that. Seriously.

So in efforts to fix this problem I’ve been doing some Pinteresting… here are a few new recipes I’ve pinned that are on my Summer Dinner list:

Shawarma Spiced Grilled Chicken with Garlic Yogurt Sauce-3

Spiralized Parsnips with Pesto, Roasted Red peppers and Chickpeas:

Now it’s your turn! Tell me what you’ve been cooking lately! I’am ready to get back in the kitchen and make some dinner magic happen!
… my husband will thank you.

P.S. I’ve got several Pinterest boards dedicated to all things in the kitchen, so check ’em out!

Styling this Blush Peplum Blouse

Let's take a peak!

A couple weeks ago I showed you a peek in my closet and a few new things that I had recently added and couldn't wait to wear! So, today I am doing it again. I love going in my sister's and girlfriend's closets to see what all they have in there and how they are making their pieces "work"! It's kind of like looking in a friend's refrigerator and panty and discovering new snacks that you never thought to buy (... just me?! okay I digress...)! Anyway, consider this kind of like that, a peek at something new I just bought and how I am planning on dressing it up and down!

Anyway, consider this kind of like that, a peek at something new I just bought and how I am planning on dressing it up and down!

I recently purchased this swing-y crepe peplum blouse from Ann Taylor in both blush and black and I cannot wait to wear them! I think I might save the black one for the Fall, but either way they were a STEAL and I could not pass them up! And to be honest with you, I am suuuuch a dress girl, that I rarely buy anything other than dresses and it’s become a problem. So I am trying to be better about also buying separates!

One of my favorite things about this top is the fit! It looks like a Club Monaco top and fits like one too! Also, it’s more of a classic peplum and won’t go out of style as quickly… and since I like to wear things for YEARS (and years… I’m looking at you black mini skirt from 2001 that I still wear, no joke) it was love at first sight!

Loren Hope Statement Necklace

Another big seller for me on this top is that it will be so easy to dress up or dress down! I can pair it with my favorite statement necklace and mules or straw totesandals, and tassel necklace! Better yet, this look could totally take me from day to night with my favorite a pair of white jeans! It’s the easiest and breeziest Summer outfit of all time!

Hi ABD readers, Courtney here from Pizzazzerie!

I’m so excited to share one of my favorite entertaining ideas! A rolling coffee bar party! If you’re celebrating a birthday, a special occasion, or just grabbing the girlfriends for a fun brunch, it’s always fun to do it in style, am I right? What better way to celebrate than using the fabulous Ashley Brooke Designs floral pattern and coffee cups to create a cute coffee party!

ABD_Pizzazzerie_12

Here are my must-haves for recreating the look:

Floral Wrapping Paper

Floral Travel Mug

Floral Coffee Mug

Assortment of Fun Coffee Mugs

Rock Candy Sticks

Sugar & Creamer

Donuts

Mini Plates & Cake Stands

Napkins

Fresh Flowers

ABD_Pizzazzerie_09

I used the ABD Floral Wrapping Paper to line the bottom of my gold bar cart to give it a punch of pattern and color! I love how it turned out, I’ve kept it up in my house even after the party! So next up is using a variety of mini plates and cake stands to serve up your yummies. Who doesn’t love powdered sugar donuts? You can also serve up mini cinnamon rolls, fruit skewers, mini muffins, you get the idea!

Fresh flowers are a must so I grabbed some peonies and roses in pinks and reds to coordinate with the floral wrapping paper. Pretty wrapped gifts for my guests doubled as party decor!

Next up, rock candy sticks are the perfect coffee stirrers so I added them with my creamer and sugar! I’m obsessed with all the adorable ABD mugs and they combine to make the cutest coffee bar cart! Just roll this party on in to your office, dining room, patio, poolside, anywhere you want! Plus, the coffee mugs make darling take-home favors after the party!

The Prettiest Place We’ve Ever Been…

On Thursday morning we packed our bags and caught a flight to Aruba! To be completely honest with you, I had no idea what to expect, other than the beach. And for a person who lives in Florida, the beach can sometimes be, you know, just the beach… but I’m going to be real with you, this place was unlike anything I have ever seen! We’ve been to the Caribbean before, but never this far South, and friends, it was heaven.

The water was so many different shades of aqua blue the photos don’t even do it justice! We kept trying to capture the magic of the water, but it was impossible! I was also surprised by the weather. To be fair, I was kind of dreading the heat. When we left Florida on Thursday it was a muggy 95 degrees outside, and I thought “tell me again why we are going closer to the equator?!” But as soon as we stepped off the plane, I understood. The sun was BRIGHT but the constant breeze kept us from ever feeling “hot”, I was shocked, and SO thankful for a break from the Florida humidity!!

We were quite honestly swept away by Aruba’s beauty and the INCREDIBLY kind people, and the food… OMG cactus puree cocktails, where have you been all my life?!? We wished we could have stayed the rest of the week!

Day 1 (ARRIVAL)

Our room with a view.

Waking up to this amazing view was nothing short of magical, and don’t even get me started on the balcony sunset watching we did every night! Unreal.

The first night after getting settled into our room and toasting to the start of our vacation we headed down to the lobby for drinks & sushi at Divi Bar & Lounge! If you go to Divi, do not leave without ordering:

The Ritz Carlton Roll (OMG), The Cadushi Cocktail (hello cactus puree!), and The House Salad (seaweed, avocado, and tuna… heaven).

After Dinner we took a walk on the beach to enjoy our very first hot pink Aruba sunset.

Day 2

Ashley Brooke Designs - Aruba 12

Kate Spade Dress // Cuyana Bag // Cuyana Hat // Kate Spade Sandals // L’Oreal Le Matte Lip stick (Color “Matte for Me”)

Day two was all about exploring! We headed out on an Island tour first thing in the morning. It was so much fun to see where the locals live, the rocky volcanic rock beaches, and breath-taking views of the island!

Note: If I were to do this day over… I would wear: shorts, tennies, and nix the hat! I may have thought I looked cute, but THE WIND! Oh my gosh, my hat stayed on for about 5 seconds and the entire time I was holding down my dress. The Aruba breeze does not mess around! Honestly, I was a human kite. Ha!

The island was filled with colorful homes and hot pink bougainvillea, all backdropped agains the crystal blue water. The island is one giant color wheel! The only thing that we couldn’t get over was how different the beaches were. On one side of the island was a calm sea with white sand beaches while the other had rough waves and black, rocky coastline! If you get a chance to go to Aruba, don’t miss the other side of the island… it’s just as beautiful!

Waiting on Martha Beach Blanket // Cuyana Hat // Illesteva Sunnies

After our tour we finally put on our swim suits and enjoyed all that the beach had to offer!

One of the many great things about the Ritz-Carlton is their water activities! I was so excited to hear that we had full access to the paddle boards, kayaks, snorkling gear, etc.! I had never paddle boarded before and we hopped at our first chance to get on a board. I think paddle boarding may have just been my favorite activity we did!

Ashley Brooke Designs - Aruba 7

After spending the entire afternoon at the beach we cleaned up and headed to dinner at Solanio, the Italian restaurant on property. The food was amazing, great live local music, fresh fruit cocktails were unreal, but the dessert…. friends, the dessert. It’s enough to book a plane ticket! Promise me if you go to Aruba you will try the “Spumoni” (vanilla sponge, orange coulis, dulce de leche, strawberry and chocolate ice cream…. aka, heaven.)

Day 3

Ashley Brooke Designs - Aruba 21

ASOS Dress (on sale for $24!) // Loren Hope Earrings

On our last full day in Aruba we took it slow. We had massages at the spa (I mean, there is nothing to hate about that) and then spent the rest of the day playing at the beach.

We wrapped up Saturday evening by watching the sunset and having dinner beachside at the BLT Steakhouse. P.S. I can’t with their popovers, vegetable chopped salad, and jalapeño mashed potatoes. So. Good.

Day 4 (departure)

On Sunday we woke up early to catch the sunrise and to enjoy the quiet beach, before we packed up our suitcases and caught a flight back home.

Ashley Brooke Designs - Aruba 1

Mr. & Mrs. Mug Set (on sale!)

On our flight back, we talked about our highs and lows of the trips and well… there were no lows! Our highs were definitely those early morning sunrises on the beach. It was just so incredible to sit in awe of God’s handy-work without any real place to go. Aruba forces you to de-stress, and take in His beauty. And that by far was our favorite thing about our trip. We hope to plan another trip to Aruba soon and bring you all will us! It was just that good.

To be honest with you, I feel like there is pretty much NEVER a good time to paint your nails. I mean, when do you ever have an idle hour to have them sit and dry? NEVER.

A couple weeks ago I Snap-chatted an image of my “busy girl manicure” and got quite few questions about it so I thought I would do a little blog post on one of my very favorite life hacks!

To be honest with you, I feel like there is pretty much NEVER a good time to paint your nails. I mean, when do you ever have an idle hour to have them sit and dry? NEVER.

Which leads me to my lightbulb moment….

View More: http://daniellenicholphotography.pass.us/abd

A couple of months ago I had juuuuust finished painting my nails when something big came up in my inbox that required my immediate attention. I had no choice but to head back into my office and log into my e-mail! I realized after I was done solving the problem that my nails were completely dry and I didn’t have even one little tiny ding in my polish… it was AMAZING! Problem solving and manicure perfection all wrapped into one!

So ever since then, I have solely relied on my “busy girl manicure”! I never paint my nails if I know I am going to be away from my desk, or I can count on them smudging. So this is my new go-to. I pour myself a cup of coffee, take about a 10 minute break and paint my nails, and go right back to work!

…It’s kind of the best life hack ever, don’t you think?!

Pillow Talk

I'm super excited to share with you a little living room update! As you know, we are in the middle of a home make over project... we are working on pretty much every room (including the back yard!), but our main focus right now is the living room. Our first BIG piece came in about 2 weeks ago and I have been dying to show you. Back in December, Roxy, from Society Social, and I started dreaming up our living room and this DROP DEAD GORGEOUS velvet couch is what we landed on first. I'm going to be real with you, it is what our entire living room is based upon.

Roxy is amazing for so many reasons, but her design skills and expertise on this project have been SO helpful! Honestly, when it's your own home, sometimes it seems a bit overwhelming to tackle a makeover like this, so having Roxy's there has been invaluable! We have so many other pieces coming in and Ryan and I are working on hopefully what will be a DIY built in situation for the wall opposite of the couch.... but I'll fill you all in when we get there, in the mean time, you should pray for us... DIY anything terrifies me.

Since this has and is a large project, we've been taking it really slow and finding pieces we actually love, and not just throwing things together fast because "I needed something to sit on" like I've done in the past. So our project for the next couple of weeks is pillows! Finding the perfect pillows that will pop in the room but also accent our new rug and furniture is intense! I haven't landed on any yet, but below are a few options that I love. To honest with you the top two pillows are my FAVE.

What do you think? What kind of pillows do you have on your couch?! Spill it, I'm dying to know!

So our project for the next couple of weeks is pillows! Finding the perfect pillows that will pop in the room but also accent our new rug and furniture is intense! I haven’t landed on any yet, but below are a few options that I love. To honest with you the top two pillows are my FAVE.

What do you think? What kind of pillows do you have on your couch?! Spill it, I’m dying to know!

Pack It Up!

Tomorrow Ryan and I are headed to Aruba for the weekend, and we are so excited that we can't stand it! So I thought it would be fun to share this post I recently did for Style Me Pretty Living on my 5 tips on packing for a weekend getaway! Hopefully this will also serve as a refresher for me too... I need to start packing my weekend bag ASAP!

Packing is my least favorite thing. I most definitely would put mopping our floors and washing a car a head of packaging, it’s just the absolute worst. I, like most women, like options… ALL the options in fact. If I could I would just like to bring everything that way I won’t have any anxiety that I have forgotten something extra important, like a ball gown. It’s a horrifically bad habit that I have. Seriously friends, I needed an intervention after I left for a 3 day trip with three bags (we are talking rolling luggage… not tote bags here), and one of those bags was filled with shoes. And yes, if you are wondering, I pretty much only wore the same lululemon pants and tennis shoes the whole trip, so that was embarrassing.

After said packing mishap I vowed to get my packing life together, because it was making everyone uncomfortable, especially the Bell Men. I thought I couldn’t do it, but I’ve got to tell you the last few trips I have taken I’ve completely outfit planned every single day and I can not tell you how much of a difference it makes. It may have taken me a full day of packing the first few times (with tears, not joking), but now, I’ve got it down to a science. Friends, if there is one thing this Summer you can do, it’s fit a long weekend’s worth of outfits in that weekender bag of yours! It’s time to dust it off and pack like a professional.

Here are my tips for packing efficiently while still bring, what feels like, all the things!

View More: http://daniellenicholphotography.pass.us/abd

 1. color coordinate! It’s easier for me when I am packing to be able to mix and match the things you bring, take for example those pretty pink shoes… they will go with pretty much everything I’ve packed for the weekend!

 1. Two words, ZIP. POUCHES. Okay so I know these are our zip pouches, but I made them because I was having such a hard time packing! They are perfect and keep my jewelry and cosmetic organized plus the bags are easily packable and slip right into the pocket of your suit case!

 1. Wear the hat. I love a good hat, especially if we are going somewhere tropical where a hat is a must. But I’ve got to be real with you, packing a hat takes up so much room, plus, it’s intensely stressful…. What if the hat gets crushed!? Etc. etc. If you can, just wear your had on the plane, not only will people think you are adorable, but deep down inside you will know that you were able to pack those extra shoes!

 1. Plan in out! If you know you’ll be doing on your trip, try and outfit plan the best you can. I try on all my outfits before (with accessories) so I know when I wake u in the morning that everything has already been vetted and there is no reason to second guess myself. Commit to the look!

 1. And lastly, if it’s a girl’s weekend… make room for the items you’ll surly bring back! I always pack an extra tote bag inside my suitcase, just in case I do a little shopping on my trip and need a place to put it my treasures. This has saved me countless times on an airplane!

We All Scream For Ice Cream!

So, if you didn’t already know… Father’s Day is THIS weekend. I can’t right now with June. It’s literally FLYING by! Father’s Day always takes me by surprise each year because its sandwiched between my mom’s, sister’s, and my birthday! In the mist of the girl’s only celebration in the month of June I always have to remember to stop and get into Father’s Day mode. And this year, Cold Stone is making that so much easier with their magical freshly made ice cream cakes.

I’m going to be real with you about two things here:

 1. I had NO clue, like none at all, that Cold Stone made fresh ice cream cakes daily. Did you?
 2. Is there anything better than an Oreo ice cream cake?! No, friends there isn’t. And..
 3. Have you ever tried to make an Oreo ice cream cake at home that actually turned out “pretty”? Okay, me neither.

This is a total no-brainer if you ask me! Also, I tried this cake, and as an Oreo ice cream cake connoisseur (that’s a real thing) I have to tell you that it is real good. Like sneak bites out of the freezer in the middle of the night while no one’s watching good. Seriously. Ryan and I had to have a conversation on Sunday night about this cake and the fact that there are only two of us in our house, and somehow, it was disappearing rather quickly!

So let me help you out with some action steps for this whole “Father’s-Day-on-Sunday-Thing”.

STEP 1 – Call and order your Cold Stone Father’s Day cake (you can than me later).

STEP 2 – Order you dad a Mr. Handsome coffee mug from our online shop (and use the code “DAD20” for 20% off).

STEP 3 – When the mug comes in, write a card, and swing by Cold Stone to pick up your cake, and voila! Father’s Day done right.

Good Morning and Happy Monday to You!

Here is just a peek at what I was up to this weekend…

Photo 1: Pretending to be a Florist

Early Saturday morning we headed down to the flower shop to pick up some blooms for a brunch we are hosting for our ABD girls tomorrow! I wanted to MAKE sure I got exactly what I wanted (I have an idea in my head, you know how that goes) so we got their bright and early before all of the good stuff was taken! Afterwards I promptly trimmed and processed the flowers and placed them in the coldest and darkest closet in our house. I am keeping my fingers crossed that they will be as perfect as I think they will be for tomorrow!

Photo 2: Menu Planning

I spent Saturday afternoon party planning for our big brunch! I wanted to make sure my grocery list was fool proof (with out fail I forget something EVERY TIME)! So I made myself a cup of hot tea, sat on the floor at our coffee table and did a little recipe research!

Photo 3: Getting Serious About Gardening

We are in FULL backyard-re-do mode… and it’s getting serious. Ryan laid down all new sod (I watched, he worked) and we are finally getting to what I think is the fun stuff… the FLOWERS!! After church on Sunday we hopped over to Home Depot and spent a good 2 hours, sweating it out in our Sunday Best, in the garden section dreaming up our back yard. We are doing this in baby steps since we are doing it all ourselves, but I am so excited to show you what we’ve come up with! Yesterday we DIYed a wall hanging planter that now houses my herbs, I’m going to be real with you, it looks so good that we should have our own HGTV show. Stay tuned for a peek!

WEEKNED SNAPCHAT STORY:

Over the weekend I had a few questions about my outfit and other details from my weekend “story”! I tried to answer as many of you as I could, but just in case I missed you… here are the details: Striped Romper // Chambray Shirt // Tassel Necklace (old Vineyard Vines, but similar here) // Straw Tote // Tennis Shoes // Watch

Also, I talked about trying out a new liquid highlighter from L’Oreal that I fell in love with, here is the link —> True Match Lumi Liquid Glow

And lastly, I got TONS of questions about my gold flatware, it’s from Home Decorators (and it’s on SALE!!).

P.S. I couldn’t end this post about our weekend without saying something about our beautiful city. This past weekend was heartbreaking for us as a nation, but more so for those of us who live in this wonderful city of Orlando. Our hearts are breaking with and for our friends.
