What’s your go to pen or pencil? (We know you have a favorite!)

Because I am such a traditionalist, I love a new, freshly sharpened number 2 pencil. I may be one of the only people left in the world who keeps a pencil sharpener on my desk because I sharpen my pencil a lot!

What are you listening to at your desk these days? If you prefer to work in silence, is there a song or album that’s gets your juices flowing when you’re stuck in a rut?

I actually prefer to work in silence rather than listen to music. I love to listen to some good country bands like the Zach Brown Band, Lady Antebellum, Sugarland when not concentrating on work.

Are there snacks or treats within arms reach of your desk? What are they?

Because I always enjoy just a little bit of chocolate, having M&Ms close by is just the perfect amount of sweet in moderation when I need it.

What 3 Things on your desk keep you on track and inspired?

1. I have a painting that hangs above my desk of a beautiful fountain in a Charleston, SC courtyard which my son painted when he was just 8 years old. It is a true masterpiece.

2. A large stack of personalized stationery, envelopes and stamps that I use almost daily to write personal notes to friends, family, colleagues and even sometimes folks I’ve just met.

3. A vision board of goals, successes, things, etc. that I want in my life, to which I am constantly adding.

Today I wanted to share with you a really fun illustration and stationery suite I just finished for Lindsey! Lindsey is an ADORABLE realtor and she wanted something special to use when sending her clients notes after closing a sale. I came up with the idea of doing a picket fence and a big sold sign stuck to a sign with her company name. I love the way everything came together right down to her tiny pup Truffles, isn’t she adorable?! Can you just imagine getting one of these in the mail after closing on a house?

P.S. Are you dying over that custom stamp? I know, me too!

Here is a peek at what I was up to this weekend…

Photo 1. All of our new neighbors are so nice, but we haven’t had much of a chance to get to know many of them other than waving to each other when I walk the dogs.  So you may think I’m crazy, but I felt like we needed to introduce ourselves to our closest neighbors, so that is just what we did! I decided that our neighbors may be more excited to meet us if we brought them baked goods, so I whipped up a batch of double chocolate chip cookies, placed them in small mason jars, tied them up with twine, and attached a matching little tag and off we went on our bikes to introduce ourselves. My sweet husband thought I was nuts but was a trooper and came along with me… after we got over the initial nervousness of knocking on a stranger’s doors we had such a great time! I’m happy to say we are now on first name bases with most of our nearest (and fabulous) neighbors… mission accomplished!

Photo 2: I whipped up a batch of homemade (skinny) strawberry-mint lemonade this weekend, not only is it such a pretty drink, but it is so good! This is a summer favorite in our house, but since it already feels like summer here in Florida I thought it was a must have!

here is my recipe (I do it by taste, so make it how you like it):

6 large lemons squeezed and strained

a handful of mint leaves

a handful of sliced strawberries

a few cups of ice water

Agave to taste

Photo 3. We celebrated Mother’s Day on Saturday with my mom and Sunday with my mother-in-law. On Sunday we went to a oh-so-fancy (and delicious) brunch with my in-laws and had such a wonderful time… I think brunch is the best meal, don’t you?! Honestly, any time mimosas are involved it’s always a good time! And on Saturday we went on a long walk around downtown Winter Park, got lattes, and then went to the Farmer’s Market with my mom! Both days were equally special and it was so lovely to spend time with them doing their favorite things.

P.S. This photo is of my sister and I at the Farmer’s Market… it’s crazy how much we look a like isn’t it?! We even had our hair braided the same way and got coordinating popsicles, ha!

Okay, I’m off to tackle my crazy to-do list and try to figure out how to pack for a trip to New Orleans (any fun Nola recommendations are welcome, this will be my first trip there!) later this week… I’m going to try and get my infamous packing skills under control, what can I say?! I like to have options! Anyways, cheers to a fabulous and productive week ahead!!

We are game people over here, board games, card games, lawn games, you name it… we like to play it! You should just see our game closet, it’s a bit intense! And just for good measure my husband always keeps a spare board game in the trunk of his car just in case an opportunity arises to play. We are serious about our games! Ever since the move I have been dying to host a game night but the house is still a bit disheveled (i.e. almost every wall has 3 or 4 paint swatches painted on it… I can’t seem for the life of me to pick a color!) but I’m thinking the more margaritas I serve the less people will notice!

Today I am SUPER excited to share with you our personal moving announcement that I just love! When I sat down to work on our moving announcements I knew a few things, 1. I wanted to do a full illustration of our house, and 2. that I wanted a photograph of our little family on our new front porch.  Once I finished the illustration and the overall layout of the design (and had my husband mow our lawn!) my dad came over and photographed us on the stoop. I love the way the moving announcement came together… and now the photograph and the illustration are two of my new very favorite things!!

I also now have ADORABLE matching folded stationery with our new house illustration that I’ve been using as thank you notes for all those housewarming gifts, every time I need to write a thank you note I get all kinds of excited!

Good morning and happy Monday! I hope you had a fantastic Cinco/Derby weekend filled with salt rimmed cocktails and big hats!

And of course, here is a tiny peek into my weekend…

Photo 1. In case you were wondering, this is what the perfect Friday night looks like—-> hot pink pajama pants, an overflowing (gold) popcorn bowl, and a snuggly pup.

Photo 2: Saturday night I co-hosted a bachelorette party. We went downtown for dinner and dancing, and had the best time! I can seriously dance for hours upon hours, and that is just what I did! I’m not going to lie to you…my feet still hurt!

Photo 3: On Sunday night my husband and I went out for a late night dinner date. With all the craziness of the weekend it was nice to be able to just sit down with him and recap! We’ve both been working solid and this weekend he even ended up having to spend the night at work… NUTS! So needless to say a late night dinner date was perfect! And just as we were about to walk out the server handed me a bag filled with massive homemade chocolate chip cookies… Y-U-M! We were of course too full to eat them last night, but I may have had a bite or two this morning (no judging), who can resist a chocolate chip cookie?!

I am off to tackle the day and an epic to-do list… but make sure you stay tuned this week, L-O-T-S of exciting stuff happening!
