Hope you are loving our new feature, ABD: Styled. Each week, we’ll feature a look, perfect for a specific occasion–be it a birthday, a trip to the Farmer’s Market, or a night out with your best beau! We’ll break it down for you, without (hopefully) breaking the bank. So from top knots to TOMS, from sunnies to sandals, we’ll be here, dishing out style each and every week.

Happy Almost Labor Day! Since the there are just a few short days left of Summer it’s high time to plan an End of Summer Potluck, and of course pick out the perfect outfit for such an event! This look has become a staple for me and there is something just so “Summer” about a flowy white skirt that you can tuck any (preferably polka-dotted) top into. And of course, top it off with a swipe of red lipstick that will pull everything together!
Oh and naturally, if we are being honest… being crowned queen of the potluck with THE best dish is a must as well. So if you are going to try and be a crowd pleaser I always say use a Paula Deen Recipe…. No one can actually “hate” anything that calls for a stick of butter. Guilt? Maybe. But hate? No way!! So here is my favorite “Queen of the Potluck” recipe:
Creamy Macaroni and Cheese
Recipe courtesy Paula Deen
- Prep Time: 5 min
- Cook Time: 3 hr 0 min
- Level: Easy
- Serves: 12 servings
- Ingredients
- 2 cups uncooked elbow macaroni (an 8-ounce box isn’t quite 2 cups)
- 4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) butter, cut into pieces
- 2 1/2 cups (about 10 ounces) grated sharp Cheddar cheese
- 3 eggs, beaten
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 (10 3/4-ounce) can condensed Cheddar cheese soup
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Directions:
Boil the macaroni in a 2 quart saucepan in plenty of water until tender, about 7 minutes. Drain. In a medium saucepan, mix butter and cheese. Stir until the cheese melts. In a slow cooker, combine cheese/butter mixture and add the eggs, sour cream, soup, salt, milk, mustard and pepper and stir well. Then add drained macaroni and stir again. Set the slow cooker on low setting and cook for 3 hours, stirring occasionally.
